History of Ajisen Ramen
Ajisen Ramen started in Kumamoto, Japan. Here are some important moments in its history:
- 1968 – A special kind of ramen soup called Tonkotsu (made from pork bones) was created. A man named Takaharu Shigemitsu (who was originally from Taiwan) added a unique garlic flavor to it.
- 1972 – Shigemitsu Industry Co., Ltd. was officially started. They built a factory to make noodles and soup. This is also when they began letting other people open Ajisen Ramen restaurants as franchises.
- 1994 – The company tried to open its first restaurant outside Japan in Taipei, Taiwan. This first try was not successful and closed three years later.
- 1996 – After Takaharu Shigemitsu passed away, his son Katsuaki Shigemitsu took over the business. Around this time, the first Ajisen Ramen store opened in Hong Kong.
- 2007 – Ajisen Ramen (China) Ltd. became a public company. This means people could buy shares of the company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
