Amad Diallo (born 11 July 2002) is a talented footballer from the Ivory Coast. He is often known simply as Amad. He plays as a winger, midfielder, or wing-back for the English club Manchester United. He also plays for his home country's team, the Ivory Coast national team.
Amad was born in the Ivory Coast but moved to Italy when he was a child. He joined the Atalanta youth team in 2015. There, he helped his team win two youth league titles. In 2019, he scored a goal in his very first game for Atalanta's main team. In January 2021, Amad moved to Manchester United. He also spent time playing on loan for Rangers and Sunderland.
Amad first played for the Ivory Coast national team in March 2021. This was during a qualifying game for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Amad Diallo's Early Life
Amad was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He moved to Italy at a young age. He started playing football for a youth team called Boca Barco in September 2014. He was very good and was the top scorer at a Christmas tournament that year, even though he was the youngest player. He officially joined Boca Barco on 14 January 2015.

Playing for Atalanta
Youth Years (2015–2020)
Many big clubs in Italy were interested in Amad when he was at Boca Barco. He decided to join Atalanta in 2015. He started with the under-14 team but quickly moved up to the under-15 team. He played in an important final game against Roma and scored a goal, helping his team win the league title.
In the 2017–18 season, he played for the under-17 team. He scored 12 goals in 27 games. In the 2018–19 season, Amad scored 12 goals and made 7 assists for the under-17s. He also scored 6 goals and made 6 assists in 26 games for the under-19 team, which is called the Campionato Primavera 1. He helped Atalanta win this championship in 2018–19.
In 2019, Amad also helped Atalanta win the Supercoppa Primavera. He set up both goals in their 2–1 win against Fiorentina. He continued to play well, scoring 6 goals and making 6 assists in 25 league games. This helped Atalanta win the Campionato Primavera 1 again in 2019–20, for the second year in a row.
Senior Team Debut (2019–2021)
Amad played his first game for Atalanta's main team in Italy's top league, Serie A, on 27 October 2019. He came on as a substitute against Udinese and scored his first goal just four minutes later! Atalanta won that game 7–1. He was the first player born in 2002 to score in the Italian top league. He was also called up for a UEFA Champions League game on 11 December 2019 but did not play.
His first league game in the 2020–21 season was on 28 November 2020. He came on as a substitute against Hellas Verona. Amad then made his Champions League debut on 1 December, playing against Midtjylland.
Joining Manchester United
First Season (2020–21)

On 5 October 2020, Manchester United agreed to sign Amad. He officially joined them on 7 January 2021, signing a five-year contract.
Amad scored two goals in his first game for Manchester United's Under-23s team. They won 6–3 against Liverpool on 30 January. He was first called up to the senior team on 9 February for an FA Cup match. On 18 February, Amad played his first game for United's main team. He came on as a substitute in a 4–0 win against Real Sociedad in the Europa League. His first goal for United came on 11 March, in a 1–1 draw against AC Milan in the Europa League.
On 11 May, Amad played his first game in the Premier League. He helped set up a goal for another player, Mason Greenwood, in a 2–1 loss against Leicester City. This was special because it was the first time in 15 years that one teenager assisted another for a Premier League goal.
Amad played his first game of the 2021–22 season on 8 December 2021. He started the UEFA Champions League game against Young Boys.
Loan Spells (2022–23)
Amad was loaned to the Scottish club Rangers on 27 January 2022, for the rest of that season. He played his first game for Rangers on 29 January and scored the first goal in a 3–3 draw against Ross County.
On 31 August 2022, Amad joined Sunderland in the EFL Championship for a season-long loan. He scored his first goal for Sunderland on 22 October. He had a great December, scoring three goals in five games, and won the EFL Young Player of the Month award. Amad ended the season as Sunderland's top goal scorer with 14 goals and 4 assists. He even scored a fantastic free kick from 25 yards in a play-off game against Luton Town.
Breakthrough Season (2023–24)
Amad played his first game for Manchester United in over two years on 30 December 2023. On 17 March 2024, Amad scored the winning goal in the very last minute of extra time in a thrilling 4–3 win against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals. He was sent off for taking his shirt off while celebrating, but it was a memorable moment! Amad scored his first Premier League goal on 15 May, helping United win 3–2 against Newcastle United.
Current Season (2024–25)
Amad has been playing more regularly this season. On 7 November, he scored two goals in a 2–0 win against PAOK in the UEFA Europa League.
On 24 November 2024, he started as a wing-back and assisted Marcus Rashford's goal in a 1–1 draw against Ipswich Town. On 15 December, he played against Manchester City. He won a penalty that Bruno Fernandes scored to tie the game, and then Amad scored the winning goal himself in a 2–1 victory!
On 5 January 2025, he scored a late goal to make it a 2–2 draw against Liverpool. On 9 January, he signed a new contract with Manchester United until 2030. On 12 January, Amad played his 50th game for United. He scored a penalty in a shoot-out that United won 5–3 against Arsenal in the FA Cup. On 16 January, Amad scored his first senior hat-trick (three goals) in just 12 minutes against Southampton, helping Manchester United win 3–1. He was the first Manchester United player to score a hat-trick since Cristiano Ronaldo in April 2022.
Amad Diallo's International Career
Amad was first called up to play for the Ivory Coast national team on 18 March 2021. He made his debut against Niger. On 5 June 2021, Amad scored his first goal for his country in a friendly game against Burkina Faso. It was a free kick in the 97th minute that helped his team win 2–1.
On 3 July 2021, Amad was chosen to play for the Ivory Coast under-23 team at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He played his first Olympic game on 22 July against Saudi Arabia and helped set up a goal in a 2–1 win. He played four games at the Olympics.

Amad is a winger who can also play in the middle of the field. He is very fast and energetic. He has great technical skills and can see the game well, meaning he knows where to pass the ball. He is also two-footed, which means he can use both his left and right feet well. This makes him a very flexible player on the field.

Amad received his Italian passport in December 2020.
On 11 July 2020, his 18th birthday, Amad changed his name on Instagram from "Amad Traoré" to "Amad Diallo". He wrote, "don't call me Traoré anymore." In September 2020, his name was officially changed to Amad Diallo.
