Early Life and Education
Marcus Rashford was born in Manchester, England. He grew up in areas like Fallowfield and Wythenshawe. His mother, Melanie Maynard, raised him and his four older siblings. She worked hard to make sure her children had enough to eat.
Marcus went to Ashton-on-Mersey School. This school is where many young players from Manchester United's academy go. He studied for a diploma in Sport there.
Football Career
Starting Out in Football
Marcus started playing football at age five for Fletcher Moss Rangers. He first played as a goalkeeper. He looked up to former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard.
Joining Manchester United
At age seven, Marcus joined the academy at Manchester United. When he was 11, he became the youngest player chosen for the Manchester United Schoolboy Scholars program. This program is usually for players aged 12 and older.
He started training with United's first team when he was 16. Coaches saw him as a very promising player.
Amazing Debut Goals
When he was 18, Marcus had an incredible start to his professional career. He scored two goals in his first European game against Midtjylland in February 2016. Just three days later, he scored two more goals in his first Premier League game against Arsenal.

Marcus scored in his very first game for England in May 2016. This made him the youngest English player to score in his first senior international match. He has played for England in two European Championships. He was the youngest player at Euro 2016. He also played in the final of Euro 2020, where England finished second. He has also played for England in the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup tournaments.
