Amanda Louise Freed (born December 26, 1979) is an American former professional softball player. She was a great pitcher and could play many positions. Amanda played college softball for UCLA. She helped her team win the national championship in 1999.

Amanda was also named an All-Tournament player in other national championships. Later, she won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2004 Summer Olympics. From 2005 to 2008, Freed played in the National Pro Fastpitch league. She also worked as a coach for the Virginia team.

Early Life and College Softball Career

Amanda Freed grew up in California. She went to Pacifica High School. In high school, Amanda was an amazing pitcher. She won big awards like the Gatorade National Female Athlete of the Year. She was even ranked the best pitcher in the world. Amanda also threw five perfect games!

After high school, Amanda went to UCLA. She played for the UCLA Bruins softball team from 1999 to 2002. Amanda's stats at UCLA are still very impressive. She holds top 10 records in many pitching and hitting categories.

Playing for Team USA

Amanda Freed played for the United States women's national softball team for several years. She helped the team win gold medals in many big competitions. In 2002, they won the Canadian Cup and the World Cup. The team also won gold at the 2003 Pan American Games.

Amanda was an alternate player for the 2000 Olympics team. That team also won a gold medal. In 2004, Amanda made the Olympic team. She played in four games and helped her team win the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Professional Softball Career

From 2005 to 2008, Amanda Freed played professional softball. She was part of the National Pro Fastpitch league. She first played for the Texas/Rockford Thunder team. Then, in 2008, she joined the Chicago Bandits. That year, her team won the Cowles Cup championship.

After Playing Softball

In 2008, Amanda Freed became an assistant coach. She coached the Virginia team.

In 2009, Amanda worked as a personal trainer. She helped actress Reese Witherspoon get ready for a movie. In the movie How Do You Know, Reese Witherspoon played a softball player.

Later, Amanda became a softball commentator. She talked about games for TV channels like FSW, ESPN, and Pac-12 Network.
