Angry Birds Seasons (which used to be called Angry Birds Halloween) is a fun puzzle video game from the famous Angry Birds series. It was made by Rovio Entertainment. This game first came out in October 2010 for Apple's iOS devices. Later, it became available on many other platforms. The game is special because it gets new levels and themes based on different holidays and seasons throughout the year. New updates stopped in 2016, and the game was removed from app stores in 2019.

How to Play Angry Birds Seasons

In Angry Birds Seasons, you use a slingshot to launch different birds. Your goal is to hit structures where green pigs are hiding. You win by defeating all the pigs in a level.

Defeating the Pigs

  • You can hit pigs directly with a bird.
  • You can also make structures fall on them.
  • Small pigs are easy to defeat.
  • Bigger pigs can take more hits.

Seasonal Levels

Each group of levels in the game has a different "season" or theme. These themes are often based on holidays or special events. This means the game changes its look and sometimes even its rules for each new season.

Game Updates and New Seasons

Angry Birds Seasons was known for its regular updates. Each update brought new levels and exciting features.

2010 Updates

The game started in October 2010 as Angry Birds Halloween. It had levels with spooky music and graphics. On December 1, 2010, the game changed its name to Angry Birds Seasons. It then added 25 Christmas-themed levels, like an Advent calendar. This meant one new level was unlocked each day leading up to Christmas.

2011 Updates

In 2011, Rovio released many new holiday updates:

  • Hogs and Kisses: A Valentine's Day update in February.
  • Go Green, Get Lucky: A St. Patrick's Day update in March.
  • Easter Eggs: An Easter update in April.
  • Summer Pignic: A summer update in June.
  • Moon Festival: Released in September for the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.
  • Ham'o'ween: Another Halloween update in October. This update introduced a new orange bird named Bubbles.
  • Wreck the Halls: A Christmas update in December, also with 25 levels like an Advent calendar.

2012 Updates

The third season of updates brought even more cool features:

  • The Year of the Dragon: Released in January for Chinese New Year. It added the Mighty Dragon, a special item that helps clear levels.
  • Cherry Blossom: A Japanese Cherry Blossom episode released in March.
  • Piglantis: Launched in June, this summer episode introduced water physics. Birds and light objects could float, while pigs and heavy objects would sink.
  • Back to School: Added in August, this update introduced the pink bird, Stella.
  • Haunted Hogs: The third Halloween episode, released in October. It added "ghost blocks" that birds and pigs could pass through.
  • Winter Wonderham: Released in December, this Christmas episode featured slippery blue ice.

2013 Updates

The fourth season was shorter but still fun:

  • Abra-Ca-Bacon: Released in May, this episode had a magic theme. It introduced magic portals that could teleport birds, pigs, or objects.
  • Arctic Eggspedition: The fourth Christmas episode, released in December. It was also set up like an Advent calendar.

2014 Updates

The fifth season brought new themes and a change in how seasons were named:

  • South Hamerica: A summer-themed episode released in July.
  • Ham Dunk: An update in October celebrating the NBA Championships.
  • On Finn Ice: The fifth Christmas episode, released in December. It featured music by the Finnish band Apocalyptica. With this update, episodes were grouped by their release year.

2015 Updates

The sixth season continued with more updates:

  • Ham Dunk: All Star & Finals: More levels were added to the Ham Dunk theme in February and June.
  • Tropigal Paradise: A tropical island-themed world added in April. This update was linked to a partnership with BirdLife International to help save birds.
  • Invasion of the Egg Snatchers: A Halloween episode in October with a 1950s movie theme. It introduced "BirdWear" (costumes) for the birds. Players could unlock these costumes by finding items in completed levels.
  • Ski or Squeal: A Christmas episode released in December, set on a snowy mountain.

2016 Updates

The seventh and final season of updates brought new adventures:

  • Fairy Hogmother: A Valentine's Day episode in February, set in a fairytale storybook. It had magic wands and extra birds in cages.
  • Marie Hamtoinette: Released in March, this episode celebrated the Versailles Festival with a fancy garden theme.
  • Summer Camp: A summer-themed world in June, set in a mountainous forest. It also added "The Pig Challenge," a tournament mode.
  • Piggywood Studios: Released in August, this update featured pigs acting out famous movie scenes.
  • Hammier Things: A Halloween episode in October, inspired by the TV series Stranger Things.
  • Ragnahog: The final Christmas episode, released in December. It had a cool Viking theme and was the last new episode for Angry Birds Seasons.

Special Items

After you complete an episode, a special item from that episode appears on the main menu screen. For example, finishing "Winter Wonderham" gives you a star-shaped cookie.

Playing on Other Devices

Angry Birds Seasons was also made available on other gaming systems. It was part of a collection called Angry Birds Trilogy. This collection included the original Angry Birds and Angry Birds Rio. It was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, Wii, and Wii U. These versions were made to use the special features of each console.
