Aran Benllyn is a mountain peak in Snowdonia, North Wales. It is part of the Aran mountain range. This peak is the second highest in the range.
It is considered a "subsidiary summit." This means it is a smaller peak that is part of a larger mountain, in this case, Aran Fawddwy.
Where is Aran Benllyn?
Aran Benllyn rises from the southern shore of Llyn Tegid. This is a large lake in Wales. The peak marks the northern end of the main Aran mountain ridge.
Another peak, Erw y Ddafad-ddu, lies between Aran Benllyn and the main mountain, Aran Fawddwy.
What is the Summit Like?
The very top of Aran Benllyn has some rocky areas. A small pile of stones, called a cairn, marks the highest point.
From the summit, you can see amazing views. To the north, you can spot Llyn Tegid. To the east, you might see Foel y Geifr. Looking south, you'll see Erw y Ddafad-ddu. To the west, you can view Rhobell Fawr and Cadair Idris.
Llyn Lliwbran
North-east of the summit, there is a small lake. It is called Llyn Lliwbran.
