Asseco Poland SA is a large Polish company that creates computer programs. It is a multinational company, meaning it works in many countries. Asseco mainly develops special software for banks and other financial businesses.
The company started in 1991. Its main offices are in Rzeszów, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland. Asseco is one of the biggest technology companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE). How Asseco Poland Started
Asseco was first known as COMP Rzeszów. It was founded in 1991 by Adam Goral. The company originally started as a factory that made ketchup. However, Mr. Goral soon focused on the company's information technology (IT) department. This IT part quickly became the most important business.
Becoming a Global Company
The company became multinational in 2004. This happened when it bought a Slovak company called Asset Soft. After this, the company changed its name to Asseco. Asseco continued to grow by buying other companies. It bought Polish software companies like Softbank and Prokom.
In 2010, Asseco expanded outside of Eastern Europe. It bought an Israeli software company called Formula Systems. Since then, Asseco has grown to have offices in over 50 countries.
Key Acquisitions and Growth
- In 2015, Asseco bought a Portuguese company named Exictos SGPS. This company worked in Portugal and African countries where Portuguese is spoken. These included Angola, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
- In 2017, Asseco created a new part called Asseco International. This new group helps manage and support all of Asseco's companies around the world.
- In 2018, Asseco entered the Philippines market. It bought a large part of Nextbank Software Sp. z o.o. This company provides IT solutions for banks in the Philippines. In the same year, Asseco's company, Formula Systems, bought several companies in the United States.
- In 2019, Asseco bought a majority of shares in Tecsisa. This Spanish IT company works in the energy sector. Asseco also bought shares in ComCERT, a company that specializes in cybersecurity services. Cybersecurity is about protecting computer systems from attacks.
- In 2020, Asseco started working in the German banking market. It created Adesso Banking Solutions GmbH with a German company called Adesso. In the same year, Asseco was ranked 55th among the largest companies in Central and Eastern Europe.
- In 2021, Asseco PST, which is part of Asseco, bought a large part of Finantech. This Portuguese company makes software for capital markets, which are places where money is invested.
- In 2022, Asseco Data Systems, another part of Asseco, bought a majority of Pirios. Pirios is a leading company in Poland that helps automate customer services.
