History of the Audi Cup
The very first Audi Cup was held in 2009. The car company Audi organized it to celebrate their 100th birthday. The host team, Bayern Munich, won this first tournament. The Audi Cup took the place of another friendly tournament called the Franz Beckenbauer Cup.
The second Audi Cup happened in 2011. This time, Barcelona from Spain won the trophy. Bayern Munich then won the next two tournaments. They beat Manchester City 2–1 in the 2013 final. In 2015, they won against Real Madrid with a score of 1–0.
In 2017, Atlético Madrid won the cup. They beat Liverpool in a penalty shootout after the game ended 1–1. The most recent Audi Cup was in 2019. Tottenham Hotspur won it by beating Bayern Munich in a penalty shootout, after a 2–2 draw.
