Robert Lewandowski (born August 21, 1988) is a Polish professional footballer. He plays as a striker for the Barcelona club. Many people think he is one of the best strikers ever.

Lewandowski won the Best FIFA Men's Player Award in 2020 and 2021. He also won the UEFA Men's Player of the Year Award in 2020. He received the European Golden Shoe for being the top scorer in Europe in 2020–21 and 2021–22. He has scored over 700 goals in his career for his clubs and country.

He started his career in Poland with Znicz Pruszków and Lech Poznań. In 2010, he moved to Borussia Dortmund in Germany. There, he won two Bundesliga titles. In 2014, he joined Bayern Munich. He won the Bundesliga title in all eight seasons he played there. He also helped Bayern win the UEFA Champions League in 2019–20.

In 2022, Lewandowski joined Barcelona. In his first season, he won the Supercopa de España and the La Liga title. He also won the Pichichi Trophy for being the top scorer in La Liga. He is the all-time top scorer for the Polish national team.

Early Football Days

Lewandowski was born in Warsaw, Poland. He started playing football at a local club called Partyzant Leszno. From 1997 to 2004, he played for MKS Varsovia Warsaw. He then moved to Delta Warsaw, where he scored four goals.

In 2006–07, Lewandowski was the top scorer in the Polish third division. He scored 15 goals for Znicz Pruszków. The next season, he was the top scorer in the Polish second division with 21 goals.

In June 2008, Lech Poznań signed Lewandowski. He debuted for Lech on July 17, 2008. He scored the only goal in a UEFA Cup match. In his first season in Poland's top league, he was the second-highest scorer. He finished the season with 18 goals.

The next season, he became the top scorer with 18 goals. He helped his team win the 2009–10 championship.

In June 2010, Lewandowski joined Borussia Dortmund in Germany. He signed a four-year contract. He scored his first Bundesliga goal on September 19.

In the 2011–12 season, Lewandowski became a regular starter. He scored two goals in a DFB-Pokal cup match. On October 1, he scored a hat-trick against Augsburg. He also scored his first Champions League goal that season. He was named Footballer of the Year in Poland.

On April 11, 2012, he scored in a 1–0 win against Bayern Munich. This win gave Dortmund a big lead in the league. On April 21, Dortmund won their second straight league title. Lewandowski scored two goals in the final league game.

In January 2014, Lewandowski signed a contract with Bayern Munich. He officially joined them in July 2014. He made his debut for Bayern on August 13. He scored his first goal for Bayern on August 30.

On October 21, he scored his first Champions League goal for Bayern. On November 1, he scored against his old club, Dortmund. Bayern won 2–1. On April 21, 2015, he scored twice in a Champions League game. Bayern won 7–4 on aggregate against Porto. Five days later, Bayern won the Bundesliga title.

Lewandowski's second season started on August 1, 2015. On September 22, 2015, he set a new Bundesliga record. He came on as a substitute and scored five goals in less than nine minutes! This was the fastest five-goal haul in Bundesliga history. He also set records for the fastest hat-trick and most goals by a substitute.

Four days later, he scored his 100th Bundesliga goal. On September 29, he scored a Champions League hat-trick. He scored two more goals against Dortmund five days later. On October 24, Bayern became the first Bundesliga team to win their first 10 games.

On August 12, 2019, Lewandowski scored his first goal of the season. Four days later, he scored two goals in the Bundesliga opener. He set a Bundesliga record by scoring in the season opener for the fifth year in a row. On August 24, he scored a hat-trick against Schalke. Lewandowski started playing for Poland's under-19 team in 2007. He also played three games for the under-21 team.

He made his debut for the senior national team on September 10, 2008. He scored a goal in a 2–0 win against San Marino. Only one player scored a goal for Poland at a younger age than Lewandowski. He scored another goal against San Marino in 2009.

He scored the first goal of the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament against Greece. He was named Man of the Match. He played in all three games for Poland in the tournament.

Becoming Captain

Lewandowski scored two penalties in a 5–0 win against San Marino on March 26, 2013. This was his first match as captain. Poland did not qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

On September 7, 2014, Lewandowski scored his first international hat-trick. He scored four goals in a 7–0 win against Gibraltar. On June 13, 2015, he scored another hat-trick against Georgia. On October 5, 2017, Lewandowski scored a hat-trick against Armenia. This took his total to 50 goals for Poland. He became the all-time top scorer for Poland. He finished the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification with 16 goals. This was a record for European World Cup qualifiers.

Lewandowski played in all three matches for Poland at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He did not score any goals. Poland did not make it past the group stage.

On June 19, 2021, Lewandowski scored in Poland's Euro 2020 match against Spain. He became the first Polish player to score in three European Championships. On June 23, he scored two goals against Sweden. Poland was knocked out in the group stage.

Lewandowski is known as one of the best strikers in the world. He is very good at scoring goals with his head and both feet. People sometimes call him Lewangoalski because he scores so much. He has all the skills a great striker needs: height, strength, speed, and smart movement.

He is great at shooting and heading the ball. He can also hold the ball up for his teammates. He works hard and helps defend when needed. He has excellent technical skills and can dribble well. As his career went on, he became more of a team player.

His wife, Anna Lewandowska, is a karate champion. They got married on June 22, 2013. They have two children.

Lewandowski is a practicing Catholic. He met Pope Francis in October 2014. In October 2017, he finished his university studies in Warsaw. He speaks Polish, English, and German.

Lewandowski enjoys tennis and paddle tennis. He has played tennis with famous players. He also likes golf and Formula One racing.

Lewandowski and his wife, Anna, have given money and support to many charities. They have helped children's hospitals and raised funds for good causes.

In March 2014, he became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He visited a refugee camp in Jordan to support children. In March 2020, he and his wife donated €1 million during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In January 2022, he bought an Olympic gold medal at a charity auction. The money helped a sick boy. Lewandowski later returned the medal to the athlete. In February 2022, he showed support for Ukraine by wearing a blue and yellow armband. The armband was auctioned for charity.
