Bell is a small town located in Gilchrist County, Florida, in the United States. It's in the northern part of the county, which is in North Florida. In 2020, about 518 people lived there. This was a bit more than the 456 people who lived there in 2010. Bell is also part of the larger Gainesville area.

What is the History of Bell, Florida?

Bell was founded in the 1890s. It was named after a beauty contest winner named Bell Fletcher.

In the early 1900s, a railway was built. This railway passed right through the town. It connected Starke and Wannee. Around 1905, a train station, called a depot, was built in Bell. Today, this old train depot has been restored and is now the Bell Town Hall.

Where is Bell, Florida Located?

Bell is located at coordinates 29°45′16″N 82°51′42″W. U.S. Route 129 is the main road that runs through the town. This road goes north about 18 miles (29 km) to Branford. It also goes south about 10 miles (16 km) to Trenton. Trenton is the main town in Gilchrist County.

The town of Bell covers a total area of about 1.6 square miles (4.2 square kilometers). All of this area is land. Bell is located about 38 miles (61 km) west of Gainesville.
