A Look Back in Time
The area around Bellevue has a long history! One of its villages, Colovrex, was first mentioned way back in 1257.
How Bellevue Became a Town
Bellevue officially became its own municipality in 1855. Before that, it was part of a nearby town called Collex-Bossy. The people living in Bellevue were often city dwellers and Protestants from Geneva. On the other hand, Collex-Bossy was mostly a farming area with Catholic residents.

Bellevue is located right on the northern shores of Lake Geneva. It covers an area of about 4.35 square kilometers (1.68 square miles).
