Blaublitz Akita (ブラウブリッツ秋田) is a professional association football (soccer) team from Akita, Japan. The team plays in the J2 League, which is the second highest professional football league in Japan. The club used to be owned by a company called TDK and was known as TDK S.C. Many of the players were employees of TDK's factory in Akita.

Club History

The club started in 1965 in Nikaho, Akita. They moved up to the Tohoku Regional League in 1982. They even played in the Japan Soccer League Division 2 in 1985 and 1986. They were the only team from the Tohoku region to play in that league.

In 2006, they won the Tohoku Regional League championship for the fifth year in a row! This win helped them move up to the Japan Football League.

In 2009, TDK announced that the football club would become independent. This meant it would no longer be part of the company. In 2010, the club changed its name to "Blaublitz Akita." The words Blau and Blitz come from the German language. Blau means blue and Blitz means lightning.

In 2014, Blaublitz Akita joined the J3 League. This is the third tier of professional football in Japan. They moved to Akita City that same year. In 2017, they won the J3 League title! However, they could not move up to the J2 League because they didn't have the right license at the time. They were the first J3 champion not to be promoted.

But they didn't give up! Blaublitz Akita got their J2 license in 2018. Then, in 2020, they won the J3 League title again! This time, they were able to move up to the J2 League. It was their first time back in the second tier in 34 years!

Home Stadium

Blaublitz Akita plays its home games at Soyu Stadium. This stadium is also known as "Yabase." It can hold 20,125 people. It's one of the oldest stadiums still used in the J.League. The team also practices at nearby places like Akita Sports Plus ASP Stadium and Space Project Dream Field.
