Bremen Township was started in 1850. It is located southwest of Chicago in southern Cook County. The main office for Bremen Township is in Markham, Illinois. The township is named after Bremen, a state in Germany. This is because many German settlers first came to this area.

Bremen Township covers an area of about 98.0 square kilometers (37.8 square miles). Most of this area is land, about 97.7 square kilometers (37.7 square miles). Only a small part, about 0.3 square kilometers (0.1 square miles), is water.

The township has clear borders. Harlem Avenue (Illinois Route 43) is on its west side. 135th Street is on the north. Western Avenue is on the east. And 183rd Street is on the south.
