Briean Boddy-Calhoun was born on January 21, 1993. He is an American former professional football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). A cornerback is a defensive player who tries to stop the other team's passes.

Briean played college football at the University of Minnesota. He first joined the NFL in 2016 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also played for the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Tennessee Titans.

In his senior year, he earned first-team all-state honors as a defensive back. He was also a second-team all-state kick returner. He was recognized three times as an honorable mention all-conference selection while playing quarterback.

Besides football, Briean was also great at track & field and basketball. He earned all-state honors as a high jumper. He was also a two-time all-conference selection as a point guard in basketball.

College Football Days

Starting at Coffeyville Community College

After high school, Boddy-Calhoun played football at Coffeyville Community College. He was named second-team All-Jayhawk Conference as a cornerback. This was after his only season with the Red Ravens.

He was named Jayhawk Conference Defensive Player of the Week twice. He also earned Special Teams Player of the Week once. During his time there, he made 40 tackles. He also had four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and blocked one kick.

Playing for the University of Minnesota

After one season, Boddy-Calhoun moved to the University of Minnesota. In his first year there, he played in all 13 games as a reserve player. He made nine tackles.

In his junior season, Briean had a knee injury in the second game. This injury ended his season early. He received a medical redshirt from the NCAA. This meant he could play another year later. Before his injury, he made three tackles and returned an interception against UNLV.

On September 4, 2016, the Cleveland Browns picked up Boddy-Calhoun. He made his first NFL regular season appearance in Week 3. This was against the Miami Dolphins.

In that game, he had six tackles and an interception that he returned for a touchdown. For the 2016 season, he recorded 39 tackles. He also had one sack, three interceptions, and 11 passes defended.

In the 2017 season, he played in 13 games. He recorded 39 total tackles and six passes defended. In the 2018 season, he played in all 16 games. He finished with 56 total tackles, two passes defended, and one forced fumble.

With the Houston Texans

On March 15, 2019, Boddy-Calhoun signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans. The Texans released him on August 31 during their final roster cuts. He was re-signed on October 30.
