The Story of Britvic
Britvic started a long time ago in the 1930s. It was first called the British Vitamin Products Company. This name was later shortened to Britvic.
The company began making fruit juices in 1938. They started selling them under the Britvic name in 1949. Over the years, Britvic grew by joining with other companies and buying new brands.
- In 1986, Britvic joined with Canada Dry Rawlings. They also bought the R. White's Lemonade brand.
- A year later, in 1987, they bought Tango and Corona drinks from another company.
- Since 1987, Britvic has also been allowed to make and sell Pepsi and 7 Up drinks in the UK. This is called a franchise agreement.
- In 1995, Britvic bought the popular Robinsons brand.
In 2007, Britvic bought the soft drink businesses of an Irish company called Cantrell & Cochrane (C&C). This helped Britvic grow even more in Ireland.
In 2012, Britvic planned to join with A.G. Barr, another soft drink company from Scotland. A.G. Barr makes drinks like Irn-Bru. If they had joined, they would have become one of the biggest soft drink companies in Europe. However, the plan was stopped in 2013.
