Bronson is a small town in Florida, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Levy County. In 2020, about 1,140 people lived there. This was a small increase from 1,113 people in 2010. Bronson is also part of the larger Gainesville area.

History of Bronson
Bronson started as a small community in 1839. It was named after Judge Isaac Bronson, who was a judge in the area around 1802. Before being called Bronson, the area was known as "Chunky Pond." This name came from the Native American name, "Chuckahaha."
Even though people settled here in the early 1800s, Bronson didn't officially become a town until much later. It was formally made the Town of Bronson in 1951.
Geography and Location
Bronson is located in Florida at coordinates 29°26′56″N 82°38′11″W / 29.44889°N 82.63639°W.
The town covers a total area of about 11 square kilometers (4.3 square miles). Most of this area is land, about 10.8 square kilometers (4.2 square miles). A small part, about 0.2 square kilometers (0.08 square miles), is water.
Climate

Education in Bronson
The School Board of Levy County is in charge of the public schools in Bronson. There are two public schools in Bronson: Bronson Middle/High School and Bronson Elementary. The School Board also oversees two charter schools (schools that get public money but are run by private groups): Nature Coast Middle School and Whispering Winds. Other schools managed by this board are in nearby cities like Chiefland, Williston, Cedar Key, and Yankeetown.
Bronson Public Library
Bronson has its own local library branch, provided by Levy County. The Bronson Public Library was built thanks to J. Phil Felburn, who started the Felburn Foundation. This library is part of a larger group called PAL (Putnam, Alachua, and Levy County Public Library Cooperative), which means it works with libraries in other counties.
