Jay Ward Productions, Inc. is an American animation studio that creates cartoons. It was started in 1948 by an American animator named Jay Ward. Today, Jay Ward's daughter, Tiffany Ward, is in charge of the studio. Her daughter, Amber Ward, is also a vice president.
Before 2022, another company called Bullwinkle Studios helped manage Jay Ward's cartoon characters. Bullwinkle Studios was a partnership between Jay Ward Productions and DreamWorks Animation.
The Story of Jay Ward Productions
The company first started in West Hollywood, California, on the famous Sunset Strip. It was across the street from a well-known hotel called the Chateau Marmont.
Jay Ward Productions Today
Around 2002, Jay Ward Productions teamed up with Classic Media to form Bullwinkle Studios LLC. This partnership was created to manage all the popular Jay Ward characters.
One of the first cartoons made by Bullwinkle Studios was George of the Jungle. This show was made with Studio B Productions and shown on Teletoon and Cartoon Network. Tiffany Ward, Jay Ward's daughter, leads both Ward Productions and Bullwinkle Studios.
In 2012, DreamWorks Animation bought Classic Media. Later, in 2016, NBCUniversal bought DreamWorks Animation.
On February 3, 2022, Jay Ward Productions made a new agreement with WildBrain. This deal means WildBrain will help create new cartoons based on Jay Ward's characters. WildBrain also gained the rights to show all the older Jay Ward cartoons. However, DreamWorks still has the rights to show the cartoons they helped make.
