Burgh le Marsh is a small town in Lincolnshire, England. It is located in the East Lindsey area. The town is built on a small hill. This hill is surrounded by land that used to be marshy. This is how the town got its name! About 2,340 people lived here in 2011.

Burgh le Marsh sits on a low hill. This hill is surrounded by land that was once a marsh. The word "marsh" even influenced the town's name. You can see the town's windmill and church from far away.
Roads and Roman History
The main road, the A158, used to go right through the town. But a new bypass opened in 2007. This helped to reduce traffic a lot. An old Roman road also passes through the town. It goes towards Skegness from the north-west. The town itself is built on the site of an old Roman fort.
Discovering the Saxon Burial Mound
Near the local church, St. Peter's and St. Paul's, there is a large earth mound. In the 1930s, people dug here and found Saxon burial remains. This means ancient people were buried there. There is a dip on top of the mound. Some people think it was used for cockfighting a long time ago. Because of this, the mound is still known as Cock Hill today.

Burgh le Marsh has many useful shops and places to visit. You can find a traditional bakery and two small convenience shops. There is also a fish shop, a post office, and places to get food like a Chinese takeaway and a fish and chip shop.

Churches and History
The main church in Burgh le Marsh is dedicated to St Peter and St Paul. It is a very old and important building. There is also a Baptist church and a Methodist chapel. From 1878 to 1936, there was a special college here called St Paul's Missionary College. It trained Anglican clergy, who are religious leaders.
Past Transport Links
Burgh le Marsh used to have its own railway station. It was on the line between Boston and Louth. However, this station closed in 1970.

Burgh le Marsh is home to two tower mills. These are tall windmills that look like towers.
Hanson's Mill
One is called Hanson's Mill. It was built in 1855. It used to have four sails, but now it is used as a home.
Dobson's Mill: A Unique Landmark
The other windmill is Dobson's Mill. It was built in 1813 by Sam Oxley. He also built another similar windmill nearby. Dobson's Mill is special because it is one of the only "left-handed" tower mills with five sails. "Left-handed" means its sails turn clockwise when you look at them from the front. This is very rare! Sadly, in February 2020, a big storm called Storm Ciara damaged its sails. Dobson's Mill is now a museum.
