Callum John Smith (born April 23, 1990) is a British professional boxer. He is known by his nickname "Mundo." Callum is the youngest of four brothers, Paul, Stephen, and Liam, who are all professional boxers.

He currently holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO) interim light-heavyweight title, which he won in February 2025. Before that, he was the World Boxing Association (WBA) and Ring magazine super-middleweight champion from 2018 to 2020. He won these titles in a big boxing tournament called the World Boxing Super Series, where he also earned the special Muhammad Ali Trophy.

At a regional level, Callum has won many super-middleweight championships. These include the British and European titles between 2015 and 2017. When he was an amateur boxer, he won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Amateur Boxing Career

As an amateur, Callum Smith boxed for Rotunda ABC in Liverpool. He won the Great Britain welterweight title in 2010 and the middleweight title in 2011. He also represented GB Boxing in international competitions.

Commonwealth Games Success

At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, Callum continued a family tradition. He won a silver medal in the welterweight division. His brother Paul also won silver in 2002, and Stephen won a gold medal in 2006. Callum reached the final after beating boxers like Aston Brown and Carl Hield, but he was defeated by Paddy Gallagher.

Olympic Qualification Attempt

Callum tried to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London as a light-heavyweight boxer. His journey ended at the final Olympic Qualification Tournament in Turkey. He lost a close fight, which meant he didn't get one of the Olympic spots.

Professional Boxing Career

In October 2012, Callum Smith became a professional boxer, just like his brothers. He joined Matchroom Sport and was coached by Joe Gallagher.

Super-middleweight Division

Starting as a Pro

Callum made his professional debut in November 2012, winning his first fight. He quickly showed his power, getting his first knockout win in February 2013. He continued to win, often finishing his opponents in the first round. This showed everyone how strong his punches were.

Winning British and European Titles

Callum kept winning and started fighting for bigger titles. In September 2013, he won the English super-middleweight title with another first-round knockout. He then won the WBC International super-middleweight title in October 2013.

In 2015, Callum fought fellow British boxer Rocky Fielding for the British super-middleweight title. Callum won with a first-round knockout, showing he was one of the best in the UK. In April 2016, he won the European super-middleweight title by stopping Hadillah Mohoumadi in the first round. These wins made him a top contender for a world title.

World Boxing Super Series Tournament

In 2017, Callum joined the first-ever World Boxing Super Series. This was a major tournament where the best super-middleweight boxers competed for a large prize and the Muhammad Ali Trophy.

Fighting Erik Skoglund

In the semi-finals, Callum was supposed to fight Jürgen Brähmer. However, Brähmer had to pull out due to illness just days before the fight. Nieky Holzken stepped in as a replacement. Callum won this fight by unanimous decision, securing his spot in the tournament final.

Winning the Final Against George Groves

The final of the World Boxing Super Series was a huge event. Callum faced George Groves in September 2018 in Saudi Arabia. Groves was a well-known champion.
