Callum John Smith (born on April 23, 1990) is an English professional boxer. He is known for holding important boxing titles. From 2018 to 2020, he was the champion for the World Boxing Association (WBA) and Ring magazine in the super-middleweight division. Before that, he won British and European super-middleweight titles. In 2018, he won a big tournament called the World Boxing Super Series, earning the special Muhammad Ali trophy. Callum is the youngest of four brothers, Paul, Stephen, and Liam, who are all professional boxers.

Callum Smith's Amateur Boxing Career
Before becoming a professional, Callum Smith was an amateur boxer. He boxed for Rotunda ABC in Liverpool. He won the Great Britain welterweight title in 2010 and the Great Britain Middleweight title in 2011. He also represented GB Boxing in international competitions.
Commonwealth Games in 2010
At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, Callum continued a family tradition. He won a silver medal in the welterweight category. His brother Paul also won silver in 2002, and Stephen won gold in 2006. Callum beat boxers like Aston Brown from Scotland to reach the final. He was then beaten by Paddy Gallagher from Northern Ireland.
Trying for the 2012 Olympics
Callum wanted to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He competed in the light-heavyweight division. His chance ended at the final Olympic Qualification Tournament in Trabzon, Turkey. He lost a close fight to Vatan Huseynli from Azerbaijan. This meant he missed out on qualifying for the Olympics.

In October 2012, Callum Smith became a professional boxer. He joined his brothers in the sport. He signed with Matchroom Sport and was coached by Joe Gallagher.
Super-middleweight Division
Starting as a Pro Boxer
Callum made his professional debut on November 17, 2012, in Nottingham. He won his first fight against Dan Blackwell. The next month, he won another fight in London. In February 2013, he got his first knockout win against Tommy Tolan. His first fight in his hometown of Liverpool also ended in a quick knockout. Callum quickly showed his power, winning many fights by knockout (KO) in the first round.
Winning British and European Titles
On September 21, 2013, Callum Smith won his first title. He defeated Patrick Mendy to become the English super-middleweight champion. He then won the WBC International super-middleweight title in October 2013. He continued to win, often by knockout.
In 2014, he fought in the US for the first time. He won by first-round KO against Abraham Hernandez. In November 2014, he had his first 12-round fight against Nikola Sjekloća. Callum won by a clear decision from the judges.
In 2015, Callum won the vacant WBC Silver super-middleweight title. He then fought Rocky Fielding for the vacant British super-middleweight title. Callum knocked Fielding down three times and won in the first round. This was a big win for him.
In April 2016, Callum fought Hadillah Mohoumadi for the European super-middleweight title. He won by knockout in the first round. He continued to defend his titles, showing he was a strong fighter.
World Boxing Super Series Tournament
In 2017, Callum Smith joined the first-ever World Boxing Super Series. This was a tournament where the winner would get a lot of prize money and the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
Smith vs. Skoglund
Callum chose to fight Erik Skoglund from Sweden in the quarter-finals. The fight took place in Liverpool on September 16, 2017. Callum won the fight by a unanimous decision from the judges. He also won the WBC Diamond belt.
Smith vs. Holzken
In the semi-finals, Callum was supposed to fight Jürgen Brähmer. However, Brähmer got sick and had to pull out. Nieky Holzken, a Dutch kickboxer, stepped in as a replacement. Callum fought Holzken on February 24, 2018, in Germany. Callum won the fight by unanimous decision, moving him to the final.
Smith vs. Groves
The final of the World Boxing Super Series was against George Groves. This was a huge fight for the super-middleweight title. The fight took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on September 28, 2018. Callum defeated Groves by knockout in the seventh round. This was a massive victory for Callum. He won the WBA (Super) and vacant Ring magazine super-middleweight titles. He also received the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
Defending His Titles
On June 1, 2019, Callum defended his WBA and The Ring titles against Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam. Callum dominated the fight, knocking N'Dam down multiple times and winning in the third round.
On November 23, 2019, he defended his titles again against John Ryder. Callum won by a unanimous decision. However, some people watching the fight thought Ryder had won.
Smith vs. Álvarez
On December 19, 2020, Callum Smith faced Canelo Álvarez, one of the best boxers in the world. This fight was for Callum's WBA and The Ring titles, and also for the vacant WBC super-middleweight title. Canelo Álvarez won the fight by a clear decision after twelve rounds. Callum also suffered an injury during the fight.

After his first professional loss, Callum Smith moved up to the light-heavyweight division.
Smith vs. Castillo
His first fight in the new weight class was against Lenin Castillo on September 25, 2021. Callum won the fight with a powerful knockout in the second round. Castillo needed medical attention after the fight.
Smith vs. Bauderlique
On August 20, 2022, Callum fought Mathieu Bauderlique. This was an important fight to decide who would get a chance to fight for the WBC world title. Callum won by knockout in the fourth round. This win earned him a shot at the unified light-heavyweight world champion, Artur Beterbiev.
Smith vs. Beterbiev
Callum Smith fought Artur Beterbiev on January 13, 2024, in Canada. Beterbiev won the fight by stopping Callum in the seventh round.
Smith vs. Galvan
Callum returned to the ring on November 30, 2024, after his loss to Beterbiev. He won his fight against Carlos Galvan by stopping him in the fifth round.
