Charlene Lipsey (born July 16, 1991) is an American middle-distance runner. She is best known for her skills in the 800 meters race. Charlene has competed in many important events, including the 2017 World Championships in Athletics.

Becoming a Professional Runner
Charlene Lipsey became a professional runner in 2013. She signed with Adidas, a big sports company. For a few years, she continued to train at LSU.
Later, Charlene moved to train with the Juventus Running Club in Philadelphia. Her coach there was Derek Thompson.
In September 2017, Charlene received a special honor. The Mayor of Hempstead Village, Don Ryan, gave her the key to the village. This was to celebrate her achievements.
Setting Records and Winning Races
Charlene was part of Team USA that set a new world indoor record. This happened on February 3, 2018, at the Millrose Games. The team ran the 4x800 meter relay in 8 minutes and 5.89 seconds. Her teammates were Chrishuna Williams, Raevyn Rogers, and Ajee' Wilson.
In 2018, Charlene won the Sir Walter Miler race. She finished the mile run in 4 minutes and 27.28 seconds. Other top runners like Sara Vaughn, Cory McGee, Nicole Sifuentes, and Kate Van Buskirk also ran very fast in that race.

College Career (NCAA)
Charlene Lipsey went to Louisiana State University (LSU) for college. She competed for the LSU Tigers track and field team. During her time at LSU, she was an 8-time All-American. This means she was recognized as one of the best college athletes in the country. She also won three Southeastern Conference (SEC) championships.

Charlene finished her studies and graduated from Louisiana State University in 2013.
High School Achievements
Before college, Charlene was a star runner at Hempstead High School (New York). She set school records in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, and mile races.
She won two state titles in the 800 meters outdoor race. She won in 2008 with a time of 2:07.46 and again in 2009 with 2:08.67. These wins were at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships.
