Chesney Lee Hawkes (born 22 September 1971) is an English singer and actor. He became famous at 19 when he starred in the film Buddy's Song. This movie featured his most well-known song, "The One and Only". This song was a huge hit, staying at the top of the UK Singles Chart for five weeks. It also reached the top 10 in the United States.
Besides his music, Chesney Hawkes has appeared on several TV shows. In 2005, he won a Bronze Medal on Channel 4's The Games. He also appeared on shows like Hit Me Baby One More Time and Let's Dance for Comic Relief.

Early Life and Family
Chesney Hawkes was born in Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was named after a famous singer and comedian, Chesney Allen. Music runs in his family! His father, Chip Hawkes, was a singer and bassist in the 1960s band the Tremeloes.
Chesney's mother, Carol Dilworth, was an actress. His sister, Keely Hawkes, was the lead singer of the 1990s band Transister. She is now a songwriter in Los Angeles. His brother, Jodie Hawkes, played drums in Chesney's band. Jodie is now also part of The Tremeloes.
Music and Acting Career
Chesney Hawkes started his career at 19. He played the main character in the film Buddy's Song. In March 1991, he released "The One and Only" from the film's soundtrack. His younger brother Jodie played drums on this song. The song was written by Nik Kershaw. It became a number one hit in the UK for five weeks.
Chesney has released several other songs. These include "I'm a Man Not a Boy" and "Secrets of the Heart". In 1993, his song "What's Wrong with This Picture?" reached number 63 in the UK. In 2002, he worked with Adam Schlesinger on "Stay Away Baby Jane". This song reached number 74 in the UK.
TV Appearances and Other Projects
Chesney Hawkes has been on many television shows. In March 2005, he was on Channel 4's The Games, where he won a Bronze Medal. He also appeared on the ITV show Hit Me Baby One More Time.
In May 2005, he released the song "Another Fine Mess". It reached number 48 on the charts. The album with the same name had fifteen songs written by Chesney. He also worked on a project for Lexus cars. He wrote two songs for the London Symphony Orchestra to perform.
Chesney appeared in a musical called Can't Smile Without You. This musical featured songs by Barry Manilow. He also made a brief appearance on Celebrity Big Brother in 2009.

In 2022, Chesney released a special box set called The Complete Picture: The Albums 1991–2012. It included five CDs and one DVD. He also released a new version of "The One and Only". In autumn 2022, he joined his father Chip and brother Jodie on the Sixties Gold Tour. They performed as part of the Tremeloes.
On February 17, 2024, Chesney was the "Unexpected Celebrity Star Star" on Michael McIntyre's Big Show for BBC One. His wife Kristina helped set up the surprise. He performed "The One and Only" for a live audience. His son, who plays guitar, also joined him on stage. In April 2025, Chesney Hawkes was a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother. His new album, 'Living Arrows', was Radio 2's Album of the Week on April 11, 2025.
Personal Life
Chesney Hawkes married his American girlfriend, Kristina, on July 4, 1997. They have three children together. They lived in Los Angeles for 12 years before moving back to Surrey in 2024.
Chesney is a big fan of the football team West Ham United FC.
