Chesney Hawkes is an English singer and actor. He became famous at 19 with his hit song "The One and Only". This song was from his movie Buddy's Song. It was number one in the UK Singles Chart for five weeks. It also reached the top 10 in the United States.
After his big hit, he released other songs like "I'm a Man Not a Boy". He also appeared on TV shows such as The Games and Hit Me Baby One More Time. Chesney has also acted in musicals.

Chesney Hawkes' Life and Career
Chesney Hawkes was born in Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was named after a singer and comedian named Chesney Allen. His father, Chip Hawkes, was a singer and bassist in the 1960s band the Tremeloes. His mother, Carol Dilworth, was an actress. Chesney's sister, Keely Hawkes, was the lead singer of the band Transister. His brother, Jodie Hawkes, played drums in Chesney's band.
Early Career and "The One and Only"
Chesney's career started when he was 19. He starred in the movie Buddy's Song. In March 1991, he released his most famous song, "The One and Only". His younger brother Jodie played drums on this song. The famous songwriter Nik Kershaw wrote it.
"The One and Only" was used in several movies. It was in Doc Hollywood (1991) and Moon (2009). It was also a phone ringtone in the 2011 movie Source Code. The song was number one in the UK for five weeks. He released other singles like "I'm a Man Not a Boy".
Music and TV Appearances
In 1993, his song "What's Wrong with This Picture?" reached number 63 in the UK. In 2002, he worked with Adam Schlesinger on "Stay Away Baby Jane". This song reached number 74 in the UK.
In 2005, Chesney appeared on Channel 4's The Games. He won a Bronze Medal in this sports competition show. He also took part in the ITV show Hit Me Baby One More Time. In May 2005, he released a song called "Another Fine Mess". The album with the same name had fifteen songs written by Chesney.
Chesney also acted in a musical called Can't Smile Without You. It featured songs by Barry Manilow. The tour started in September 2008.
In 2011, Chesney performed on the TV show Louie Spence's Showbusiness. He also joined the BBC series Let's Dance for Comic Relief. He took part in the ITV series Sing If You Can. In September, he played Joseph in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

In February 2024, Chesney was a surprise guest on Michael McIntyre's Big Show for BBC One. He performed "The One and Only" live on stage. His son, who plays guitar, joined him.
Chesney Hawkes' Personal Life
Chesney Hawkes married his American girlfriend, Kristina, on 4 July 1997. They have three children. They live in Los Angeles, but they used to live in Chertsey, England.
Chesney is a big fan of the football team West Ham United FC.
