Clinton is a small town located in Kennebec County, Maine, in the United States. It is known as a typical New England town. The town was named after George Clinton, who was an important general during the Revolutionary War and later a U.S. Vice President.

To the south, Clinton borders Benton. To the west, it borders Fairfield. Clinton is the northernmost town in Kennebec County. Towns to its west and north are in Somerset County. Waldo County is located to the east.

History of Clinton
The town of Clinton has a long history. It was officially formed in 1795. At that time, it was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The town was named after George Clinton. He was a general during the American Revolutionary War. He also served as a U.S. Vice President. It's important to know that the town was not named after DeWitt Clinton.
