What is Closeburn Like?
Closeburn is part of the beautiful Samford valley. It is about 28 kilometers (17 miles) northwest of Brisbane.
This area has lots of big properties and small farms. You can get to Closeburn from Brisbane by driving along Samford Road and Mount Samson Road. A stream called Cedar Creek flows through Closeburn. It enters from the west and leaves towards the south and east.
A Look at Closeburn's Past
Closeburn used to be called Cedar Creek, named after the stream that runs through it. But in 1901, a railway station opened here. It was named Closeburn, possibly after a town in Scotland.
A school called Closeburn State School opened in 1920. It helped educate local children for many years before closing in 1967. The Cedar Creek Public Hall, a building for community events, opened in 1925.
