Colleyville is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, in the United States. It's located right in the middle of the big Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex area. Colleyville used to be a small farm town in the 1800s. Today, it is a well-off suburb of Dallas and Fort Worth. In 2020, about 26,057 people lived there.

Colleyville started as several small farming communities. These towns were located along the Cotton Belt Route train line.
How Colleyville Got Its Name
The area was first known as Bransford. This was before Dr. Lilburn Howard Colley moved there in 1880. Dr. Colley was a well-known doctor and a veteran of the Union Army. In 1914, Walter G. Couch opened a grocery store near Dr. Colley's home. The community then changed its name to Colleyville to honor Dr. Colley.
A Recent Event in Colleyville
On January 15, 2022, an event involving hostages happened at a place of worship in Colleyville. Four people were held for several hours. Law enforcement ended the situation, and the person responsible was stopped. The FBI looked into the event. A movie about this event was later made and shown at a film festival.

Roads and Highways
Two main Texas state highways pass through Colleyville. Texas State Highway 121 runs along part of the eastern side of the city. Texas State Highway 26, also called Colleyville Boulevard, goes right through the middle of the city. It runs from southwest to northeast. The speed limit on most city roads is 30 miles per hour. On Highway 26, the speed limit is 45 miles per hour, as set by the TxDOT.
Train Travel
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad travels through Colleyville. It uses the old Cotton Belt Route tracks. You can take rides on old trains from downtown Grapevine to downtown Fort Worth.
A newer commuter train service, TEXRail, started in 2019. It connects Fort Worth to the DFW Airport. However, the Colleyville City Council and residents did not want the train to stop in their city. So, the closest stations are the North Richland Hills/Smithfield station and the Grapevine station.
Airports Near Colleyville
Two big airports serve the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is one of the busiest airports in the world. It offers flights to over 200 places. American Airlines has its main hub there. Colleyville has grown a lot because it is so close to DFW. Dallas Love Field is another airport in Northwest Dallas. It is the home base for Southwest Airlines.
Trails for Walking and Biking
The Cotton Belt Trail is a great place for biking and walking. It is eleven miles long and runs next to the old Cotton Belt Route railroad. This trail goes through Grapevine, Colleyville, Hurst, and North Richland Hills. About 3.4 miles of the trail are in Colleyville. The Colleyville Nature Center also has a hiking trail that is 1.25 miles long.
