Corcelles-Cormondrèche was a small town, also called a municipality, in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It was located in the Boudry district.

On January 1, 2021, Corcelles-Cormondrèche joined with two other towns, Peseux and Valangin. They all became part of the larger city of Neuchâtel.

History of Corcelles-Cormondrèche

The town of Corcelles-Cormondrèche has a long history. It was first mentioned in old records way back in 1092. At that time, it was known as Curcellis.

Later, around the year 1220, the name Cormundreschi also appeared. This shows that the two parts of the town have been around for a very long time.

Geography and Landscape

Corcelles-Cormondrèche is located about 5 kilometers (about 3 miles) west of the city of Neuchâtel. It sits in a beautiful area of Switzerland.

The former town covered an area of about 4.9 square kilometers (about 1.9 square miles). A large part of this land, about 42.8%, is covered by forests. About 30.7% of the land is used for farming, growing crops or raising animals. The rest of the land, about 26.3%, is where buildings and roads are located. There are also small rivers and lakes, making up about 0.2% of the area.

The town is made up of two main villages: Corcelles and Cormondrèche. There is also a forest clearing called Serroue, which has several houses.

Coat of Arms

Every town in Switzerland has its own special coat of arms. The coat of arms for Corcelles-Cormondrèche has a unique design.

It shows a silver background with a golden knife coming out from the right side. There are three green grapevines with purple grapes. The knife is shown over a blue lake. In the top left corner, there is a special forest mark. This mark has two ribs between two red letters 'C'.
