Where is Corcoran Located?
Corcoran covers about 36 square miles (93 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. Several main roads, like County Roads 10, 19, 30, 50, 116, and 117, help people get around. Minnesota State Highway 55 also runs along the southern edge of the city for a short distance.

Corcoran's History
Corcoran was first settled by people in 1855. The city was officially organized on May 11, 1858. It was named after Patrick B. Corcoran, who was an important person in the early days of the town. He was the first schoolteacher, a merchant, and the postmaster. Patrick B. Corcoran came from Ireland in 1847 and moved to Hennepin County in 1855. Corcoran officially became an incorporated city on December 4, 1948.
