Danbury Township is home to a few interesting communities. Each has its own special features.
Danbury Community
The community of Danbury is also called Danbury Station. It is located in the southwest part of the township. You can find it on the Marblehead Peninsula along the shore of Sandusky Bay.
Lakeside Community
Lakeside is another community in the township. It sits along the shore of Lake Erie. This area is in the northeast part of the township. The entire community of Lakeside is a special historic district. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Marblehead Village
Marblehead is a village within Danbury Township. It is located in the eastern part of the township. Marblehead is also on the Marblehead Peninsula. It has beautiful views of Lake Erie.
History of Danbury Township
Danbury Township has a unique history. It is the only township named Danbury in all of Ohio.
How Danbury Got Its Name
This area was once part of a region called the Firelands. The first settlers who came here were from Danbury, Connecticut. They named their new home "Danbury" after their old one.
Johnson's Island and the Civil War
Johnson's Island is a small island in Sandusky Bay. During the American Civil War, it was a very important place. It held a large Prisoner-of-war camp for soldiers. Today, Johnson's Island is part of the village of Marblehead.

Danbury Township is located at the very eastern tip of Ottawa County. It sits at the end of the Marblehead Peninsula.
