Darya Uladzimirauna Domracheva (born August 3, 1986) is a famous retired Belarusian biathlete. Biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Darya competed in the Biathlon World Cup from 2006 to 2018. She won many medals at the Winter Olympics and Biathlon World Championships. She is known for her amazing speed and shooting skills.

Darya's Early Career in Biathlon
Darya started her sports journey with cross-country skiing in 1992. When she was 13, in 1999, she switched to biathlon. At first, she competed for Russia as a junior athlete. But in 2004, she got an offer to join the team for Belarus. She officially became part of Belarus' national biathlon team in 2006.
Junior World Championships Success
Darya quickly showed her talent. In 2005, she won gold medals in both the sprint and pursuit races. This was at the IBU Youth and Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti, Finland. The next year, in 2006, she earned a bronze medal in the pursuit event. This was at the Junior World Championships in Presque Isle, USA. In 2007, she won two silver medals in sprint and pursuit at the Junior World Championships in Martell, Italy.
Breaking Through in the World Cup
Darya's big moment came during the 2008-2009 season. She started to finish in the top three in World Cup races. This showed she was becoming one of the best biathletes in the world.
Olympic and World Championship Achievements
Darya Domracheva is famous for her many medals at major competitions. She has won six Olympic medals and seven World Championship medals.
Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Darya won her first Olympic medal. She earned a bronze medal in the women's 15-kilometer individual race. Later that season, in March, she won her first two World Cup races in Finland. She won both the sprint and pursuit events.
Becoming a World Champion
After the Vancouver Olympics, Darya kept getting better. Between 2011 and 2013, she won 10 World Cup races. She also became a world champion. In 2012, she won the pursuit event at the World Championships. In 2013, she won the mass start event.
Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics
The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were her most successful games. Darya won three gold medals! She won gold in the pursuit, individual, and mass start competitions. For these amazing wins, she received the "Hero of Belarus" medal. This is a very high honor in her home country.
Return and Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics
In 2015, Darya took a break from competing because she was sick. She returned to the World Cup in 2017. Her comeback was very strong. She won a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, she added two more medals to her collection. She won a silver medal in the mass start race. She also helped the Belarusian team win a historic gold medal in the relay event.

Darya Domracheva had many successful seasons in the Biathlon World Cup.
- In the 2010-2011 season, she won the Mass Start World Cup title. This means she was the best in mass start races that season.
- In the 2011-2012 season, she finished second overall in the World Cup standings. She also won the Pursuit World Cup and the Mass Start World Cup titles.

Darya's Retirement and Coaching Career
Darya announced her retirement from biathlon in June 2018. She said it was hard to balance being a top athlete and a parent. She finished her career as the most decorated winter Olympian from Belarus.
In September 2019, Darya and her husband, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, became biathlon coaches. They started coaching the Chinese team. They helped prepare the team for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Personal Life
Darya Domracheva was born in Minsk, Belarus. When she was four, her parents, who were architects, moved to a town in Siberia, Russia. Darya started skiing at age six. She was so good that she often competed against boys because there were no girls her age who could keep up!
In 1999, a biathlon school opened in her town, and Darya joined. Her family moved back to Minsk in 2003. Darya studied Tourism Management at the Belarusian State Economic University.
On July 16, 2016, Darya married fellow biathlete Ole Einar Bjørndalen. He is a famous Norwegian biathlete. They had a daughter named Xenia on October 1, 2016. Darya decided to retire from competing to focus on her family.
