DeAndre Roselle Yedlin (born July 9, 1993) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a defender for Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati. DeAndre mostly plays as a right-back. He can also play as a wing-back or a wide midfielder.

Early Life and Soccer Start
DeAndre Yedlin grew up in Seattle, Washington. He started playing soccer when he was just four years old. He learned by watching his uncle play from the sidelines.
High School and Youth Clubs
DeAndre went to O'Dea High School in Seattle. He was part of Washington Youth Soccer's Olympic Development Program (ODP) from 2006 to 2009. He also played for youth clubs like Emerald City FC and Northwest Nationals. Later, he joined the U.S. Soccer Development Academy club Crossfire Premier.
In 2010–11, Yedlin moved to the Seattle Sounders FC youth academy. People noticed his speed and ability to attack. Chris Henderson, a director at Seattle Sounders, said DeAndre had "great quickness and speed."
College Soccer at Akron
On February 8, 2011, Yedlin decided to play college soccer at the University of Akron. In his first year, he played in 20 of 23 games. He scored his first college goal on September 28, 2011. This was in a 3–1 win against Ohio State. He also made six assists that year.
During his second year, Yedlin played in 22 games. He again had six assists. While not playing college soccer, he played for Seattle Sounders FC U-23. This was in the Premier Development League. He was even named to the 2012 All-PDL First XI team.
Professional Soccer Journey
DeAndre Yedlin has played for several professional soccer clubs. He started his career in the United States. Then he moved to play in England and Turkey.
Starting with Seattle Sounders FC

On January 11, 2013, Yedlin joined Seattle Sounders FC. He was the club's first "homegrown player." This means he came from their youth academy.
He played his first game on March 2, 2013. He was named to the MLS Team of the Week for his great performance. This was special because he was a rookie. On March 12, he scored his first professional goal. This helped the Sounders win against Tigres in a big tournament.
In July 2013, Yedlin was chosen for the MLS All-Star team. He was the first rookie since 2005 to get this honor. He scored his first league goal on July 20, 2013. He was also named to the MLS All-Star team again in 2014.
Moving to Tottenham Hotspur
After playing well for Seattle and in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Yedlin moved to England. On August 13, 2014, he signed with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. He signed a four-year contract.
Yedlin stayed with Seattle until January 2015. He started training with Tottenham on January 7, 2015. He played his first Premier League game on April 11, 2015.
Loan to Sunderland
On September 1, 2015, Yedlin went on loan to Sunderland for a year. He played his first game for Sunderland on September 22. He even got an assist in that game. On October 3, 2015, he started his first Premier League game for Sunderland.

Playing for Newcastle United
On August 24, 2016, Yedlin joined Newcastle United. He signed a five-year contract. He played his first game for Newcastle on August 27. Two weeks later, he scored his first goal for the club. This was his first goal in three years. He scored his first Premier League goal for Newcastle on September 1, 2018.
Time at Galatasaray
On February 1, 2021, Yedlin moved to the Turkish team Galatasaray. He signed a 2.5-year contract. On March 19, he scored his first goal for Galatasaray. His contract with Galatasaray ended on January 26, 2022.
Joining Inter Miami
Yedlin joined Inter Miami CF on February 2, 2022. He signed a four-year contract. The team's manager, Phil Neville, said Yedlin's experience and leadership were very important. Yedlin himself said he had become a much better defender since leaving MLS before.
Yedlin was the vice captain when Inter Miami won their first trophy, the 2023 Leagues Cup. A video of Lionel Messi offering Yedlin the captain's armband to lift the trophy with him became very popular.
Moving to FC Cincinnati
On March 4, 2024, Yedlin moved to FC Cincinnati. He explained that he and his wife liked Cincinnati as a place to raise a family. He also thought TQL Stadium was the best soccer stadium in the U.S. He chose to wear number 91 to honor his uncle.
International Career
DeAndre Yedlin has proudly represented the United States in many international games.
Youth National Team
On June 7, 2013, Yedlin was chosen for the United States under-20 squad. This was for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey. He played his first U-20 international game a week later. It was a 3–1 win against Portugal.
Senior National Team Debut
Yedlin was first called up to the senior men's national team on January 3, 2014. He played his first game for the senior team on February 1, 2014. This was in a friendly match against South Korea.
FIFA World Cup Appearances
Yedlin was a surprise choice for the U.S. team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He made his World Cup debut against Portugal. He helped set up a goal that put the U.S. ahead. He also played in the next game against Germany. In the game against Belgium, Yedlin came on early due to an injury. His performances impressed many people.
Yedlin continued to play for the U.S. team after 2014. He played in the 2016 Copa America Centenario. He also played in the qualification games for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Leadership and 2022 World Cup
After 2018, Yedlin became a leader for the younger players. He said he wanted to move past the team's challenges and start fresh. He even captained the national team in a friendly game against Chile in March 2019.

Personal Life and Activism
DeAndre Yedlin has a diverse background. He is part Black, part Native American, and half Latvian Jewish.
He is very close with his mother, Rebecca Yedlin. He was raised by his maternal grandfather, Ira Nathan Yedlin, and step-grandmother, Vicki Walton. He also has a younger sister named Jenea.
During a time of important discussions about racial fairness in the United States, Yedlin spoke out. He supported the Black Lives Matter movement. He talked about his grandparents, who lived through old laws that treated people unfairly because of their race. Yedlin shared his thoughts on the history of unfair treatment against African Americans. He said it was important to stand up for what is right. He believes all people should be treated equally.
In May 2021, Yedlin became part of the ownership group for the USL Championship club San Diego Loyal SC.
