Wonder Woman is a famous superhero from DC Comics comic books. She was one of the very first female superheroes in American comic books and is known all over the world. A psychologist named William Moulton Marston created Wonder Woman. He believed that women could be just as strong and powerful as men. His wife, Elizabeth Holloway-Marston, also helped inspire him. Wonder Woman first appeared in a comic called All-Star Comics #8 in December 1941. Her very own comic book, Wonder Woman #1, came out in the summer of 1942.

In the comic books, Wonder Woman's real name is Diana. She is the daughter of Queen Hippolyta, who rules the Amazons. The Amazons are a group of peaceful women who live on a secret island called Themyscira, also known as Paradise Island.

During World War II, a pilot from the US Air Force named Steve Trevor crash-landed on Paradise Island. Diana and the Amazons helped him get better. Diana then decided to take him back to the United States. Once she arrived there, she became the superhero known as Wonder Woman!

Early Appearances

She was in animated cartoons and a live-action TV show in the 1970s. The actress Lynda Carter played Wonder Woman in that show, and it made the character very famous.

Modern Movies

In the early 2000s, there were many plans to make a Wonder Woman movie. Many famous actresses were considered for the role, like Sandra Bullock and Lucy Lawless. The movie project went through many different writers and directors.

Finally, Gal Gadot played Wonder Woman in the 2016 action movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She then starred as the main character in her own movie, Wonder Woman, in 2017. She played the role again in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) and Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021).
