Dominique Marquis Cole (born March 9, 1991), known as Domo Genesis, is an American rapper, DJ, and songwriter. He is famous for being part of the Los Angeles hip hop group Odd Future. Domo Genesis has also built a successful solo career. He released his first album, Genesis, in 2016. In 2018, he started his own music label.

Domo Genesis's Music Journey

Early Days with Odd Future (2009–2010)

Domo Genesis joined the group Odd Future in mid-2009. He was already good friends with Tyler, the Creator, another member of the group.

Domo Genesis released his first mixtape, Rolling Papers, on August 30, 2010. The music for this mixtape was created entirely by other Odd Future members: Tyler, the Creator, Left Brain, and Syd tha Kyd.

Growing as an Artist (2011–2012)

His second mixtape, Under the Influence, came out on September 20, 2011. Many people thought this second release was much better than his first.

On February 9, 2012, Domo released a song called "Ground Up" with famous rapper Wiz Khalifa.

Domo Genesis also appeared on TV in the show Loiter Squad. This show was created by Odd Future. In the show, he played a character called Young Gunshot.

Later in 2012, Domo Genesis teamed up with producer Alchemist. They released a mixtape together called No Idols on July 31, 2012. You could download it for free. The first song from this mixtape was "Elimination Chamber". It featured other rappers like Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, and Action Bronson.

New Projects and Collaborations (2013–2014)

On April 4, 2013, Domo Genesis performed on TV. He was on The Late Show with David Letterman with Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. They performed the song "Rusty" from Tyler's album Wolf.

On October 31, 2013, the Odd Future record label released an album called MellowHigh. This album was a collaboration between the group MellowHype and Domo Genesis. The album was quite popular, reaching number 89 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Domo Genesis announced in November 2013 that he was working on two new projects. These were a mixtape called Under the Influence 2 and his very first studio album. He later hinted that Under the Influence 2 would be released on November 5, 2014.

First Album and More Music (2015–2017)

On January 4, 2016, Domo released a song called "KWYM" (Keep Working Young Man) online. This was followed by his first official album, Genesis, in March 2016. A song called "Dapper," featuring Anderson .Paak, was released a few weeks before the album.

To support his new album, Domo went on a tour called the 2016 Chore Tour. This tour lasted from May to July 2016.

On June 16, 2017, Domo released another mixtape called Red Corolla. This mixtape included guest appearances from rappers King Chip and Styles P.

Recent Work and New Labels (2018–Present)

On January 19, 2018, Domo released the mixtape Aren't U Glad You're U? on his own. It was produced by Evidence and featured rapper Phonte. On the same day, a music video for his song "Me vs. Me" was released on the official Odd Future YouTube channel.

Later in 2018, Domo released an EP (a shorter album) called Facade Records. This project was produced by Mike & Keys. It featured other artists like Buddy, IDK, King Chip, and Cozz. This project grew into a group with Domo and Mike & Keys. They released two more EPs together, Just in Case and Just in Case 2, in 2020.

In 2021, Domo Genesis was featured on Tyler, the Creator's album Call Me If You Get Lost. He appeared on the song "MANIFESTO."

On July 29, 2022, Domo released another project produced by Evidence. It was called Intros, Outros & Interludes. This mixtape featured guest artists like Navy Blue, Remy Banks, Evidence, and Boldy James.

In 2023, some of Domo's older mixtapes were re-released on music streaming services. On April 20, his 2012 mixtape No Idols with The Alchemist became available. Then, on June 30, his mixtape Red Corolla was also re-released for streaming.

Personal Life

Domo Genesis briefly attended Arizona State University. However, he decided to leave college to focus on his music career. He is a Christian.

Musical Influences

Domo Genesis has shared that he is inspired by several famous rappers. These include Nas, Mobb Deep, MF DOOM, and Wiz Khalifa.
