Dwight King (born July 5, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was a skilled left winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Dwight was picked by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2007 NHL Draft. He helped the Kings win the famous Stanley Cup twice, in 2012 and 2014. He also played for the Montreal Canadiens.

Dwight King's Hockey Journey
Dwight King started his hockey journey in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He played five seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes from 2004 to 2009. This was a big step before he became a professional player.
Time with the Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings chose Dwight King in the 2007 NHL Draft. He was the 109th player picked overall. After his time in the WHL, he started playing professionally.
In the 2009–10 season, Dwight played for two teams. He spent some time with the Ontario Reign in the ECHL. Then, he joined the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League (AHL). The Monarchs were a team linked to the Kings.
Dwight continued playing for the Manchester Monarchs. In November 2010, he got a call to join the Los Angeles Kings. This was his first time playing in the NHL. His very first NHL game was against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
On February 12, 2012, Dwight scored his first NHL goal. It was against the Dallas Stars. That year was amazing for him and the Kings. He scored five goals and had three assists in the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Kings went on to win their first-ever Stanley Cup championship!
Dwight made history again on October 24, 2013. He scored his first hat trick in the NHL against the Phoenix Coyotes. A hat trick means scoring three goals in one game. The Kings had another fantastic year in 2014. They won their second Stanley Cup by beating the New York Rangers. Dwight played in 26 playoff games that year. He scored three goals and made eight assists.
After these big wins, Dwight signed a new contract with the Kings. It was a three-year deal in July 2014. He continued to play for the Kings for a few more seasons.
Moving to Montreal
On March 1, 2017, Dwight King was traded. He moved from the Los Angeles Kings to the Montreal Canadiens. He continued to play his role as a strong forward. He scored one goal in 17 games for the Canadiens. He also played in six playoff games for them. After that season, he became a free agent.
Playing in Europe
In August 2017, Dwight decided to play hockey overseas. He signed a two-year contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. This team plays in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in Russia. He played one season there, scoring 6 goals and 14 points.
After his time in Russia, Dwight moved to Austria. In August 2018, he signed with the Graz 99ers. This team plays in the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL). He played two seasons with the Graz 99ers before ending his professional career in 2020.
Dwight's Life Outside Hockey
Dwight King is part of the Métis community in Canada. His older brother, D. J. King, also played professional hockey. Dwight grew up playing minor hockey in Saskatchewan. He played for the Beardy's Blackhawks. This team is special because it's run by a First Nations reserve. About half of the team members were First Nations people.
Dwight's hometown is Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. He spends his summers there with his family. When he won the Stanley Cup in 2014, he shared it with his hometown. His wife, Lauren, and daughter, Grace, were there to celebrate with him.
His mother, Donna, works as a secretary. His father, Dwayne, is a truck driver. Dwight has also started a new business. He runs an indoor golf course in Meadow Lake called Kingdom Golf.
