In 2020, about 1,027 people lived in Eden Valley. Most of the city is in Meeker County. The part of Eden Valley that is in Stearns County is considered part of the larger St. Cloud area.

History of Eden Valley

Eden Valley was officially planned and marked out as a town in 1886. Just one year later, in 1887, a post office opened in Eden Valley. This helped the community grow and connect with other places.

Geography and Location

Eden Valley is special because it sits right on the border between Stearns County to the north and Meeker County to the south.

Highways and Nearby Towns

Two important state highways meet in the southern part of Eden Valley. These are Highway 22 and Minnesota State Highway 55.

  • Highway 22 goes north about 10 miles (16 km) to Richmond. It also goes south about 14 miles (23 km) to Litchfield. Litchfield is the main city for Meeker County.
  • Highway 55 goes east about 13 miles (21 km) to Kimball. It also goes west-northwest about 10 miles (16 km) to Paynesville.

Land and Water

The city of Eden Valley covers a total area of about 1.34 square miles (3.48 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.006 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water.

Eden Valley is located within the Sauk River watershed. This means that water from the area flows into the Sauk River. The Sauk River then flows northeast and eventually joins the Mississippi River near St. Cloud.
