Edison Michael Flores Peralta (born May 14, 1994) is a Peruvian footballer. He plays as a forward for Peruvian Liga 1 club Universitario de Deportes. He also plays for the Peru national team.
Edison started his football journey in the youth teams of Universitario de Deportes in Lima. In 2011, when he was just 17, he helped Universitario win the 2011 U-20 Copa Libertadores. He was even named the best player of that tournament!
For his country, Flores played in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He was one of Peru's top scorers in the qualifying games, scoring five goals. He also played in three Copa América tournaments: in 2016, 2019, and 2024. In 2019, he helped Peru reach the final, where they finished as runners-up.

Club Career
Early Days at Universitario
Edison Flores played in the youth teams of Universitario de Deportes from 2008 to 2011. In March 2011, at 16, he joined the main team. He was a key player for the Universitario U-20 team that won the 2011 U-20 Copa Libertadores. He was even named the best player of the tournament.
His first official league game was on July 31, 2011. He was 17 years old. He came into the game against Juan Aurich in the 64th minute. Later that year, he played in his first "Peruvian Clásico" against Alianza Lima. He came on when the score was 1-1. In the last minutes, Flores dribbled past three players. This led to the winning goal for Universitario, who won 2-1.
The next season, he scored his first professional goal. It was in a 2-1 win against León de Huanuco. He also scored a header in another "Clásico" game, which Universitario won 2-1.
Playing in Spain and Back Home
On August 31, 2012, Flores moved to Spain. He joined Villarreal's reserve team, Villarreal B. He played his first game for them in a 1-0 win. He scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw.
In March 2014, Villarreal announced that Flores would return to Universitario. After coming back, he played in the 2014 Copa Libertadores group stage. In the 2016 season, he was a very important player. He helped Universitario win the 2016 Torneo Apertura. He scored a fantastic overhead kick goal in the deciding game.
Adventures in Denmark and Mexico
On August 11, 2016, Flores moved to Denmark. He signed a four-year deal with Aalborg BK. He played his first game on August 15, 2016, in a 2-1 home win. On August 28, 2016, he scored his first goal in the Danish Superliga. He helped his team win 2-1.
In 2018, Edison moved to Mexico. He joined the club Monarcas Morelia. The Mexican team signed him for four years.
Time in the USA
On January 14, 2020, D.C. United in the USA bought Flores. They paid a club-record fee for him. Flores played his first game on February 29, 2020. In August, he had a head injury and was out for six weeks. He returned in October 2020. In November, he made his first two assists for the team.
Flores scored his first MLS goal on May 13, 2021. It was the winning goal in a 1-0 game. Later in May, he got a hamstring injury. He returned to play in mid-August.
Back to Universitario (Again!)
Edison Flores made a big return to Universitario. One of his most memorable moments was scoring against Alianza Lima. This goal helped Universitario win the Peruvian championship for the first time in 10 years. Flores also scored two goals to help Universitario win the "Apertura" tournament against Chankas.
International Career
Playing for Peru's Youth Teams
Edison Flores played for all of Peru's youth national teams. He was part of the U-20 squad in the 2013 South American Youth Football Championship. In a crucial match against U-20 Chile, he scored a header. This goal gave Peru the lead. Even though Peru didn't qualify for the World Cup that time, Flores's performance impressed the national team manager.
Joining the Senior National Team
After his strong club performances, Flores was called up to the senior Peru national team. This was for the Copa América Centenario in the United States. He made a big impact in his first major tournament. He scored one goal against Ecuador in a 2-2 draw.
He helped Peru win their group and even knock out Brazil. His great play made him a new star for Peru. He was often chosen for Peru's 2018 World Cup qualifying games. He helped Peru qualify for the World Cup after 36 years!
World Cup and Copa América Moments
In May 2018, Edison was part of Peru's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
In Peru's second game at the 2019 Copa America, he scored a goal. It was in a 3-1 win against Bolivia. In the quarterfinals, he scored the winning penalty kick against Uruguay. This sent his team to the semifinals. He then scored the first goal against Chile in the semifinals. This helped Peru reach the final against Brazil.

About Edison
On December 21, 2019, Edison Flores married his longtime girlfriend, Ana Siucho. Their wedding was even shown on TV!
Edison has African and Quechua family roots. He and his teammate Renato Tapia have worked to help promote the culture of the Peruvian Quechua people.
