How Elanora Heights Began

The suburb officially started as the Elanora Heights Estate in 1929. Before that, there was an attempt to create a coal mining camp here. Around 1920, members of the Royal Sydney Golf Club bought a large piece of land. This land became the foundation for the Elanora Country Club, which opened in 1922.
