Evans is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. In 2020, about 15,308 people lived there. The town is named after David E. Evans. He was an agent for the Holland Land Company. He was also the nephew of land agent Joseph Ellicott.
Evans is about 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Buffalo. It is a rural area with 12 miles (19 km) of waterfront along Lake Erie. The town is close to major trading centers. It is also a gateway for trade with Canada.

History of Evans
The town of Evans was created in 1821. It was formed from a part of the town of Eden. The first settler arrived around 1804. However, people did not start living there permanently until 1808. David Evans became the local agent for the Holland Land Company in 1827. He was known for being fair to the settlers who were struggling.
Geography and Location
Evans covers a total area of about 41.56 square miles (107.64 km²). Most of this area, 41.53 square miles (107.56 km²), is land. Only a small part, 0.03 square miles (0.08 km²), is water.
Major roads like the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90), US 20, and NY 5 run through the town.
The northern border of Evans is defined by Eighteen Mile Creek. This creek is famous for its excellent fossil formations. Lake Erie forms the western border of the town.
