Fotbal Club Viitorul Constanța, often called Viitorul Constanța or just Viitorul, was a professional football club from Ovidiu, Constanța County, in Romania. Their home games were played in blue and black uniforms at the Stadionul Viitorul. This stadium is located a few kilometers north of the city of Constanța.
The famous Romanian football player Gheorghe Hagi started the club in 2009. Viitorul was well-known for helping young talented players grow through its special academy. Because of this, people often called them "Hagi's Kids."
Gheorghe Hagi also coached the team. Viitorul Constanța had its biggest success in the 2016–17 season. They became the first team from the Dobruja region to win Romania's top football league. Two years later, they also won the Romanian Cup and the Romanian Supercup.
In June 2021, Viitorul Constanța joined with another club, Farul Constanța. The new combined team took Viitorul's spot in the top league.

History of Viitorul Constanța
Starting the Club (2009–2012)
Viitorul Constanța began in the summer of 2009. They started playing in the Liga III, which is the third level of Romanian football. They got their spot by taking over the playing rights of another team, CSO Ovidiu. From the very beginning, the club was owned by the famous former Romanian player, Gheorghe Hagi.
In their first year, the team quickly moved up to the Liga II, which is the second level. This happened after a tough competition with ACS Berceni. Then, in the 2011–12 season, Viitorul finished second in the Liga II. This amazing performance meant they were promoted to the Liga I, Romania's top football league, for the very next season!
Winning Trophies and Playing in Europe (2012–2021)
In the 2012–13 season, Viitorul played in the Liga I for the first time ever. They won 8 games, had 12 draws, and lost 13 games. They finished in 13th place, which was enough to stay in the top league. Even though they had some great wins, they often had to fight hard to avoid being sent down to a lower league for the next two seasons.
In 2016, Viitorul finished in 5th place. This earned them a spot in the UEFA Europa League, a big European competition. They played against a Belgian team called Gent in their first European match. Unfortunately, Viitorul lost 0–5.
On May 13, 2017, Viitorul achieved something incredible. They won the Liga I title after beating CFR Cluj 1–0 at home. This was the first major trophy in the club's history! Winning the league meant they qualified for the UEFA Champions League, the biggest club competition in Europe. "Hagi's Kids" were the youngest league champions in all of Europe that season, with players averaging only 22.2 years old. In the Champions League, they won their home game against APOEL 1–0. However, they lost the away game 0–4 after extra time, which meant they didn't go further in the competition.
Joining with Farul (2021)
On June 21, 2021, a big announcement was made. Gheorghe Hagi, who owned Viitorul, and Gheorghe Popescu, the chairman of Viitorul, joined with Ciprian Marica, who owned Farul Constanța. They announced that their two football clubs from Constanța County would merge. This meant that Farul took Viitorul's place in the Liga I. Viitorul, as a separate club, stopped existing. The new combined team moved to the Viitorul Stadium in Ovidiu, because the old Farul Stadium was not in good condition.
Youth Program
Viitorul Constanța was very famous for training young football players in Romania. They had some of the best training facilities in the country. After the clubs merged in 2021, the excellent youth academy became part of Farul Constanța.
Home Stadium
Viitorul played their home games at the Stadionul Viitorul in Ovidiu. They returned to this newly expanded stadium in the summer of 2015 and played there until the club merged in 2021.
