Fotbal Club Viitorul Constanța, usually called Viitorul Constanța or just Viitorul, was a professional football club from Romania. It was located in Ovidiu, Constanța County. The team played its home games in blue and black uniforms at the Stadionul Viitorul. This stadium is a few kilometers north of the city of Constanța.
The club was started in 2009 by Gheorghe Hagi, a famous former Romanian football player. Viitorul was well-known for helping young talented players grow through its academy. Because of this, they were often called "Hagi's Kids." Gheorghe Hagi also coached the team.
Viitorul Constanța had its first big success in the 2016–17 season. They became the first team from the Dobruja region to win Romania's top football league title. Two years later, they also won the Romanian Cup and the Romanian Supercup.
In June 2021, the club merged with Farul Constanța. Farul Constanța, which was in the second league, took Viitorul's spot in the top league for the 2021–22 season.

Club History
Starting the Club (2009–2012)
Viitorul Constanța began in the summer of 2009. They joined Liga III, which is the third level of Romanian football. They took over the playing rights from another team called CSO Ovidiu. Since it started, the club was owned by the famous Romanian football player, Gheorghe Hagi.
In their very first season, the team won promotion to the 2010–11 Liga II (the second league). This happened after a tough competition with ACS Berceni. In the 2011–12 Liga II season, Viitorul finished second. This great result meant they were promoted to Liga I, Romania's top football league, for the next season.
Winning Trophies and Playing in Europe (2012–2021)
In the 2012–13 season, Viitorul played in Liga I for the first time ever. They won 8 games, drew 12, and lost 13, finishing in 13th place. This was enough to avoid being sent down to a lower league. For the next two seasons, Viitorul often had to fight to stay in the top league.
In 2016, Viitorul finished in 5th place. This earned them a spot in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, a big European competition. In their first European match, they played against the Belgian team Gent. Viitorul lost 0–5 at the Ghelamco Arena.
On May 13, 2017, Viitorul achieved a huge victory. They won the Liga I title by beating CFR Cluj 1–0 at home. This was the first major trophy in the club's history. Winning the league also meant they qualified for the UEFA Champions League, Europe's most important club competition. The team, known as "Hagi's Kids," was the youngest league champion in Europe that season, with players averaging just 22.2 years old.
In the third qualifying round of the Champions League, Viitorul won 1–0 against APOEL at home. However, they lost the away game 0–4 after extra time, which meant they were out of the competition.
Merging with Farul (2021)
On June 21, 2021, a big announcement was made. Gheorghe Hagi, the owner of Viitorul, and Gheorghe Popescu, the chairman, joined with Ciprian Marica, the owner of Farul Constanța. They announced that their two clubs from Constanța County would merge.
Farul Constanța took Viitorul's place in the Liga I. This meant Viitorul, as a separate club, effectively stopped existing. The new combined team moved to the Viitorul Stadium in Ovidiu. This happened because the old Farul Stadium was in poor condition.
Youth Development
Viitorul Constanța was famous for its excellent youth program. They were known for finding and training young football players in Romania. The club had some of the best training facilities in the country. After the merger in 2021, the Gheorghe Hagi Football Academy became part of Farul Constanța.
Home Stadium
Viitorul played its home games at the Stadionul Viitorul in Ovidiu. They returned to this newly expanded stadium in the summer of 2015. The club continued to play there until it merged with Farul in 2021.
