It's Europe's biggest club competition, organized by UEFA. This season was the 63rd time the tournament was held. It was also the 26th season since it changed its name from the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League. Teams from all over Europe battled it out to see who was the best.

How the Tournament Works

The UEFA Champions League is a yearly football competition. Top football clubs from different European countries play against each other. The tournament has two main parts: the group stage and the knockout stage.

The Group Stage

The tournament starts with the group stage. Here, 32 teams are divided into eight groups. Each group has four teams. Every team plays against the other teams in their group twice. They play one game at home and one game away.

  • Teams get points for each game:
    • 3 points for a win
    • 1 point for a draw
    • 0 points for a loss
  • After all games are played, the top two teams from each group move on. They get to play in the next part of the tournament, called the knockout stage.

The Knockout Stage

The knockout stage is where things get really intense! If a team loses a match, they are out of the tournament. This stage includes the Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and the Final.
