Harry Edward Kane (born 28 July 1993) is a famous English footballer. He plays as a striker for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. He is also the captain of the England national team. Many people think he is one of the best strikers of his time.
Kane is the all-time top goalscorer for both Tottenham Hotspur and England. He is also the Premier League's second-highest goalscorer ever. He has scored over 400 goals in his senior career.
He started his professional career with Tottenham Hotspur in 2009. He also played on loan for other English clubs. These included Leyton Orient, Millwall, Leicester City, and Norwich City. After Mauricio Pochettino became coach in 2014, Kane played more for Tottenham. In his first full season, he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
Kane was the top goalscorer in the Premier League in the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons. In 2017, he helped Tottenham finish second in the Premier League. He was also named PFA Fans' Player of the Year. In the 2017–18 season, he scored 41 goals in 48 games. The next season, he helped Tottenham reach the UEFA Champions League final. In the 2020–21 season, he was the top goalscorer and top assist provider in the league.

Early Life and Football Beginnings
Harry Edward Kane was born on 28 July 1993 in Leytonstone, London. His parents are Kim and Patrick Kane. He has an older brother named Charlie. His father's family is from Galway, Ireland. The family later moved to Chingford. Harry went to Larkswood Primary Academy and then Chingford Foundation School. Famous footballer David Beckham also went to Chingford Foundation School.
Kane started playing football at a young age. He joined a local club called Ridgeway Rovers in 1999 when he was six. He said that most of his family were fans of Tottenham Hotspur. He grew up very close to their stadium. His childhood hero was former Spurs striker Teddy Sheringham. He admired Sheringham's ability to score goals. He also looked up to David Beckham and Jermain Defoe. Kane also loved watching videos of the Brazilian forward Ronaldo. He wanted to be a goalscorer like him.

Tottenham Hotspur Years
Youth Development (2004–2010)
Kane first played for Ridgeway Rovers in 1999. He joined the Arsenal youth academy when he was eight. But he was released after one season. The Arsenal academy manager, Liam Brady, said Kane was "a bit chubby" and "not very athletic." Later, Arsenal's manager Arsène Wenger said he was sad Arsenal let Kane go.
Kane also had a trial at Tottenham Hotspur but was not chosen at first. He went back to Ridgeway Rovers. In 2004, at age eleven, he joined Watford's academy for a short trial. He impressed them when Watford played against Tottenham. This gave him another chance at Tottenham. He first played for Tottenham as a midfielder.
In his early days at Tottenham, Kane did not stand out. He was not very big or fast. But coaches noticed his strong desire to get better. A few years later, he had a big growth spurt. This made him taller and stronger. In the 2008–09 season, he played for Tottenham's under-16 team. He scored three goals in tournaments in Mexico and Switzerland. In July 2009, on his 16th birthday, he signed a scholarship contract with Tottenham.

Wanting to Leave (2021–2022)

The 2021–22 season started with Kane wanting to leave Tottenham. He said he had an agreement with chairman Daniel Levy. But Levy rejected offers from Manchester City. Kane did not show up for pre-season training. He missed the first two games. He played his first game of the season on 22 August against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kane scored his first goal of the 2022–23 season against Chelsea. He scored in injury time to make it 2–2. This was his 184th Premier League goal for Tottenham. It equalled Sergio Agüero's record for most goals for one Premier League club. Kane broke the record in the next game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. He became the first player to score 185 goals for one club in the Premier League.
On 5 February 2023, Tottenham announced Kane as their all-time top scorer. He passed Jimmy Greaves with his 267th goal for Tottenham. This was also his 200th Premier League goal. On 11 March 2023, Kane scored his 269th and 270th goals against Nottingham Forest. This gave him the undisputed record. In 2023, he scored 30 goals. He became the first player to score 30 goals in two different 38-game Premier League seasons.
In June 2023, Bayern Munich made an offer for Kane. Tottenham rejected it. In July, Kane was part of Tottenham's pre-season tour. Bayern Munich's honorary president said Kane wanted to join Bayern. On 6 August, Kane scored four goals in a friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk. Tottenham rejected another offer from Bayern. On 10 August, Bayern and Tottenham agreed on a deal worth over €100 million. Debut Season and Golden Shoe (2023–2024)
Kane joined Bayern Munich on 12 August 2023. He signed a four-year contract. He became the most expensive signing in Bundesliga history. He cost €100 million plus bonuses.
He made his debut for Bayern on the same day. It was in a 3–0 loss to RB Leipzig in the 2023 DFL-Supercup. He scored his first goal for Bayern on the opening day of the 2023–24 Bundesliga season. He also assisted a goal in a 4–0 win against Werder Bremen. On 27 August, he scored his first two goals for Bayern against FC Augsburg. On 15 September, he scored his 300th career club goal. On 3 May 2024, Kane was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season. His 36 goals in his first Bundesliga season earned him the European Golden Shoe award. He was the second English player to win this award. He also finished as the Champions League top scorer with eight goals. He was named in the Champions League Team of the Season.
First Major Title (2024–2025)

On 16 August 2024, Kane scored his first goal of the season. It was in a 4–0 win over SSV Ulm 1846 in the DFB-Pokal. On 1 September, he scored his first league goal of the season against SC Freiburg. On 14 September, Kane scored his first hat-trick of the campaign against newly promoted Holstein Kiel. This meant he had scored at least one goal against every Bundesliga team he had faced.
Three days later, Kane scored another hat-trick. He netted four goals against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. This made him the highest-scoring Englishman in the Champions League with 33 goals. He beat Wayne Rooney's record. On 21 September, Kane scored against Werder Bremen. He overtook Jadon Sancho as the highest-scoring Englishman in the Bundesliga. On 22 November, Kane scored a hat-trick against FC Augsburg. He became the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the Bundesliga. He did it in 43 games, beating Erling Haaland's record. He then scored 55 goals in 50 games.

International Career for England
Youth Teams (2010–2015)
In January 2010, Kane was called up to the England under-17 team. He scored two goals in six games. He later played for the under-19s. He scored twice against Albania in October 2010. Kane helped the under-19s reach the semi-finals of the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He scored the winning goal against France. He played 14 times for the under-19 team and scored six goals.
On 28 May 2013, he was named in the squad for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He made his debut on 23 June against Iraq. He scored in the next match against Chile. On 13 August, Kane played for the under-21s against Scotland. England won 6–0. On 10 October, he scored a hat-trick against San Marino.
Kane was in the England under-21 squad for the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He played every minute of England's games.
Senior Team Debut and First Tournaments (2015–2018)
Kane could have played for the Republic of Ireland through his father. But in August 2014, he decided to play for England.
On 19 March 2015, Kane was called up to the England senior team. He made his debut at Wembley Stadium against Lithuania. He scored just 80 seconds after coming on as a substitute. On 30 March 2015, he started against Italy.
On 5 September 2015, Kane scored in England's 6–0 win over San Marino. This helped England qualify for UEFA Euro 2016. He scored his third England goal against Switzerland. On 12 October, his shot led to an own goal by the Lithuanian goalkeeper.
On 22 May 2016, Kane scored in a friendly win over Turkey. But he missed a penalty. At Euro 2016, he took corner kicks. England was knocked out by Iceland.

Captain and World Cup Golden Boot (2018–2020)
Kane was named captain of the England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. On 18 June, he scored both goals in England's 2–1 win over Tunisia. His winning goal came in injury time. In the next game on 24 June, Kane scored a hat-trick against Panama. England won 6–1, their biggest World Cup victory ever. Kane became the third English player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup.
Kane scored his sixth goal of the tournament from a penalty against Colombia. He also scored in the penalty shoot-out. England won the shoot-out 4–3. This was England's first World Cup penalty shoot-out win. Kane did not score again in the tournament. England finished fourth after losing to Belgium. But his six goals earned him the Golden Boot. He was the first English player to win it since Gary Lineker in 1986.
In September 2018, the UEFA Nations League started. England lost their first match to Spain. On 15 October, England beat Spain 3–2. Kane assisted two goals. On 14 November, Kane presented Wayne Rooney with England's Golden Boot award. Rooney was England's all-time top scorer at the time. Rooney said he wanted Kane to present it, predicting Kane would break his record. Three days later, Kane captained England to a 2–1 win over Croatia. He scored the winning goal. In the qualifying phase for UEFA Euro 2020, Kane captained England's 1,000th match. He scored a hat-trick against Montenegro. This brought his total to 31 goals. He became the highest-scoring England captain. England won 7–0 and qualified for Euro 2020. Kane scored in every game of the qualifying campaign. He scored twelve goals in total.
In the Euro 2020 round of 16 on 29 June 2021, Kane scored against Germany. This was his first goal of the tournament. England won 2–0. He scored two more goals against Ukraine in the quarter-finals. In the semi-final against Denmark, Kane scored the winning goal. England won 2–1. This sent them to the Euro 2020 final. It was England's first major final since 1966. Harry Kane's former youth coach, Alex Inglethorpe, said that when Kane was 15, he looked a bit awkward. But he had great skill and technique. He was also very flexible and sometimes played in midfield.

They have two Labrador retrievers named Brady and Wilson. Kane named one after NFL quarterback Tom Brady. He said the other dog's name, Wilson, was a coincidence. Kane has said that a documentary about Tom Brady inspired him. In 2019, Kane said he was interested in becoming a kicker in the NFL in the future.
Since 2017, Kane has had a full-time chef to help with his nutrition. He enjoys playing golf in his free time.
Kane was given an award called Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2019. This was for his services to football.
On 10 October 2022, Kane started the Harry Kane Foundation. It aims to help people talk about mental health. Kane appeared on CBeebies' Bedtime Stories to mark the launch.
