Farrington Lake is a beautiful freshwater lake in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is located near the town of Milltown, New Jersey. Farrington Lake is actually a reservoir, which means it's a special lake created by people to store water.
It was made by building a dam across the Lawrence Brook. This brook is a smaller stream that flows into the Raritan River. So, Farrington Lake is really a wider part of the Lawrence Brook. Other streams like the Ireland Brook, the Beaverdam Brook, and the Oakeys Brook also flow into Farrington Lake.
How Farrington Lake Got Its Name
The lake is named after Edward Farrington. He was the mayor of New Brunswick, New Jersey, from 1915 to 1918. Mayor Farrington had the idea to build the dam. He wanted the dam to help provide water for his city. Sadly, Mayor Farrington passed away in 1918 while he was still in office.
