Felicity Kendall Huffman (born December 9, 1962) is an American actress. She is famous for her roles in TV shows and movies. You might know her best as Lynette Scavo from the ABC show Desperate Housewives. She also played a transgender woman in the movie Transamerica (2005).
Throughout her career, Felicity Huffman has won many awards. These include a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. She was also nominated for an Academy Award, which is a very big honor in movies.
Huffman started her acting journey in theater. In the 1990s, she began getting many supporting roles in films and on television. She starred as Dana Whitaker in the ABC comedy-drama Sports Night from 1998 to 2000. This role earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award.

Early Life and Education
Felicity Huffman was born in Bedford, New York. Her parents were Grace Valle and Moore Peters Huffman. Her father was a banker. Her parents divorced when she was very young. She was raised by both of them. Later, she found out her biological father was a family friend. She has six sisters and one brother.
In the 1970s, her mother moved to Snowmass, Colorado. Felicity and her siblings spent their childhood there. Her family has a long history. Her great-grandfather founded the Peters Cartridge Company. Another great-grandfather was a successful businessman. Her family has German, English, and Irish roots.
Huffman went to The Putney School. This was a private boarding high school in Putney, Vermont. She graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in 1981. She also studied at New York University. She attended the Circle in the Square Theatre School. She even studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.

Starting in Theater
Felicity Huffman began acting on stage in 1982. For many years, she mostly performed in plays. In 1988, she made her debut on Broadway in the play Speed the Plow.
In 1995, she won an Obie Award for her role in the play The Cryptogram. She also starred in the first performance of Boston Marriage in 1999. This play was about the close friendship between two women.
Early TV and Film Roles (1991–2003)
Huffman first appeared in a movie in 1988. It was a small role in Things Change. Two years later, she played Minnie in Reversal of Fortune. This was a courtroom drama.
She also appeared in the thriller Quicksand: No Escape (1992). She was in The Water Engine with her future husband, William H. Macy. Other early movie roles include Hackers (1995) and The Spanish Prisoner (1997).

After a role on the show Frasier, Huffman got a main role in Desperate Housewives. She starred alongside Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, and Eva Longoria.
In 2005, Huffman won an Emmy Award for her role in Desperate Housewives. She also won two Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2006. The show was very popular and ran for eight seasons. It ended in May 2012.
In 2005, Huffman starred in the movie Transamerica. Her performance in this movie was highly praised. She won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
