Teri Lynn Hatcher (born December 8, 1964) is an American actress. She is famous for playing Lois Lane in the TV show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993–1997). She also played Paris Carver in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).
Teri Hatcher voiced characters like Mel Jones and the Beldam in the animated film Coraline (2009). She also starred as Susan Mayer in the TV series Desperate Housewives (2004–2012). For this role, she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. She also won three Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Early Life and Education
Teri Hatcher was born on December 8, 1964, in Palo Alto, California. She is the only child of Esther, a computer programmer, and Owen Walker Hatcher, Jr., a nuclear physicist and electrical engineer. Her family has roots from England, Wales, Ireland, Syria, and Czech Republic.
As a child, Teri took ballet lessons at the San Juan School of Dance in Los Altos. She grew up in Sunnyvale, California. Later, she studied mathematics and engineering at De Anza College.
Acting Career Highlights
Starting Out in Acting (1984–1992)
Teri Hatcher studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater. One of her first jobs in 1984 was as an NFL cheerleader for the San Francisco 49ers. From 1985 to 1986, she was part of the TV series The Love Boat. She played Amy, one of the Mermaid showgirls, mostly dancing and singing.
From 1986 to 1989, she appeared in six episodes of the TV series MacGyver. She played Penny Parker, a talkative but innocent character. In 1988, she had a short guest role in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Outrageous Okona".
In 1989, she made her first movie appearance in The Big Picture. She also played Sylvester Stallone's younger sister in the action-comedy Tango and Cash. In 1991, she starred in the comedy Sunday Dinner.
Becoming a Star (1993–1997)
Teri Hatcher made a popular guest appearance on a 1993 episode of Seinfeld, playing Sidra. She returned to the show for brief scenes in two later episodes.

Hatcher got a main role in the ABC TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She played the Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane alongside Dean Cain as Superman/Clark Kent. This show ran from 1993 to 1997.
In 1995, when the show was very popular, a picture of Hatcher wrapped in a Superman cape was one of the most downloaded images online. She also helped write an episode for the show's third season. In 1996, Hatcher hosted NBC's Saturday Night Live.
She won the role of Paris Carver in the 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. At the start of filming, Hatcher was three months pregnant. This did not affect the movie's production schedule. Hatcher also appeared in films like Spy Kids (2001).

Teri Hatcher was chosen for one of the main roles on ABC's Desperate Housewives. She played Susan Mayer. For this role, she won the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Golden Globe Award in January 2005. Later that year, she won a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award. In July 2005, she was nominated for an Emmy award.

By April 2006, Hatcher was one of the highest-paid TV actresses in the United States. She reportedly earned $285,000 per episode of Desperate Housewives. In May 2006, she released her first book, Burnt Toast: And Other Philosophies of Life.
In 2009, she voiced the Other Mother and Coraline's mother Mel Jones in the animated film Coraline. In 2010, Hatcher returned to the Superman world. She had a special guest role in the final season of Smallville as Ella Lane, the mother of Erica Durance's Lois Lane.
Recent Work (2013–Present)
Hatcher voiced Dottie in the animated films Planes (2013) and Planes: Fire & Rescue (2014). In 2016, she had a recurring role as Charlotte in the comedy series The Odd Couple. In 2017, Hatcher appeared as Queen Rhea of Daxam in the TV series Supergirl.
In 2018, Hatcher started a YouTube channel called Hatching Change. She is also an enthusiastic baker. She won the Food Network celebrity episode of Chopped. She also won an episode of The Great British Bake Off in 2018. In 2024, Hatcher played Ruth Finley in the Lifetime film The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story.
Personal Life

Teri Hatcher married Marcus Leithold on June 4, 1988. They divorced the next year. On May 27, 1994, she married actor Jon Tenney. They had a daughter named Emerson in 1997. They divorced in March 2003.
In 2007, Hatcher began writing a column for Glamour magazine.
