Fontanezier was once a small town, also known as a municipality, located in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It was part of the Jura-Nord Vaudois area.
On July 1, 2011, Fontanezier joined with three other towns: Romairon, Vaugondry, and Villars-Burquin. Together, they formed a new, larger town called Tévenon.

History of Fontanezier
Fontanezier is quite old! The first time anyone wrote about it was in the year 1403. Back then, its name was spelled Fontanisy.

Fontanezier covers an area of about 3.74 square kilometers (1.44 square miles). Imagine a square about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) on each side – that's roughly its size!
Most of the land in Fontanezier is either used for farming or covered in forests. About 48.7% of the land is used for agriculture, like growing crops or for pastures where animals graze. A slightly larger part, 49.7%, is covered by beautiful forests. Only a small part, about 2.4%, has buildings or roads.
Fontanezier is nestled in the foothills of the Jura Mountains. The main village of Fontanezier is located at an elevation of about 825 meters (2,707 feet) above sea level. There's also a tiny settlement called Le Crozat, which is even higher up at 1,364 meters (4,475 feet).
