Christopher Joseph Gallant III (born on November 14, 1991), known as Gallant, is an American singer and songwriter. He is from Columbia, Maryland. He is signed with Mind of a Genius Records and Warner Bros. Records.
Gallant first became known after releasing his first EP, Zebra, in 2014. His first full album, Ology, came out in April 2016. It was very popular and was even nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Gallant's Early Life
Gallant was born in Washington, D.C.. When he was young, his family moved to Columbia, Maryland. He went to Atholton High School there. He started recording songs when he was in middle school. He was inspired by R&B artists and later by alternative rock music.
In 2013, he finished his studies at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. He focused on music during his time there.
Gallant's Music Career
Starting Out and Zebra
In the fall of 2013, Gallant moved to Los Angeles, California. He wanted to work on his music career there.
In 2014, he released his first EP, Zebra, by himself. He said it was like a "sonic diary" about his experiences after living in New York.
In 2015, his song "Weight in Gold" was played by Zane Lowe on Beats1. This helped him gain more attention. That same year, Gallant went on tour with Sufjan Stevens across North America. He performed 18 shows. After this tour, Spotify named Gallant as one of 15 artists they thought would become very popular in 2016.
Gallant also appeared on "Testarossa Music" by Zhu. He also opened for Zhu's "Neon City" tour, which started at the Coachella festival.
On February 5, 2016, Gallant and Jhené Aiko released their song "Skipping Stones." It featured Gallant's special high-pitched singing style and Jhené's calm vocals.
Gallant performed at both weekends of Coachella in 2016. Billboard magazine called his performance the best moment of the festival. During the first weekend, Seal made a surprise appearance. They sang Seal's song "Crazy" and Gallant's "Weight in Gold." The next weekend, Jhené Aiko joined Gallant to perform "Skipping Stones."
In the Room Series
On January 6, 2016, Gallant started a new video series called In the Room. In the first episode, he performed Sufjan Stevens' song "Blue Bucket of Gold" with Stevens.
For the second episode, Gallant worked with Spotify. This episode featured Seal and came out on March 9, 2016. Gallant and Seal sang Gallant's popular song "Weight in Gold." Seal even said he was Gallant's biggest fan!
In the third episode, Gallant covered Janet Jackson's "I Get Lonely" with Jack Garratt. Later, he collaborated with John Legend on Legend's song "Overload." Gallant also worked with Andra Day and Dua Lipa for other episodes.
Gallant explained that In the Room was a project to honor and create music with artists who had inspired him.
Albums and EPs
Ology Album
Gallant's first studio album, Ology, was released on April 6, 2016. It was released by Mind of a Genius Records. The album received great reviews. The Guardian newspaper said, "If this is what R&B’s future looks like it’s brighter than ever." Entertainment Weekly also named Ology one of the best albums of 2016. People praised the album for Gallant's unique sound, voice, and lyrics.
On May 12, 2016, Gallant performed on national television for the first time on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He sang "Weight in Gold" and received a standing ovation. Fallon praised his performance, telling everyone to "Watch out for this guy!"
In September 2016, Gallant performed "Bourbon" and "Weight in Gold" for the BBC on Later... with Jools Holland. On December 2, 2016, Gallant was a special guest artist at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards, where he sang "Weight in Gold."
In January 2017, he was chosen as Elvis Duran's Artist of the Month. He appeared on NBC's Today show and performed "Weight in Gold." On January 26, he released "Cave Me In" with Epik High's Tablo and Eric Nam. In the spring of 2017, he opened for John Legend's Darkness and Light tour.
Sweet Insomnia Album
On January 25, 2019, Gallant released his second album, Sweet Insomnia. This album featured Sabrina Claudio on the song "Compromise" and 6lack on the title track "Sweet Insomnia."
Neptune EP
On March 26, 2021, Gallant released his second EP, Neptune. It included songs with Brandy, Arin Ray, and the R&B group VanJess.
sneek Project
On November 17, 2023, Gallant teamed up with Terrace Martin to form sneek. This project mixes soul and jazz music.
Zinc. Album
Gallant released his singles "Coldstar." on June 13, 2024, and "Fly on the Wall." on July 17, 2024. He then announced his album Zinc., which came out on September 27, 2024. This album shows a more alternative and indie side to his music.
