Georgetown is a small community in Kent County, Maryland, in the United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is not a separate town or city with its own local government. Instead, it is part of the larger county.
The community of Georgetown was started a long time ago, in 1736. It was named after Prince George. He later became the King of the United Kingdom. On the other side of the river, in Cecil County, is another community called Fredericktown.
