History of Grandevent
Grandevent is quite old! It was first written about in the 16th century. Back then, its name was spelled Grandevens.
Geography of Grandevent
Grandevent covers an area of about 3.45 square kilometers (which is about 1.33 square miles). Imagine a square with sides just under 2 kilometers long – that's roughly the size of Grandevent!
Most of the land is either used for farming or covered in forests. About 45.5% of the area is farmland, and 51.3% is forest. Only a small part, about 3.2%, has buildings or roads.
The municipality sits near the beautiful Jura Mountains. It's about 5 kilometers (3 miles) away from a town called Grandson. Grandevent includes the main village, a smaller settlement called Vers-chez-Grison, and a seasonal mountain camp known as Le Grand-Brelingard.
