The Guardians of the Galaxy are a team of superheroes from Marvel Comics. They appear in American comic books. This team was created by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. They brought together characters who were already part of the Marvel Universe.

The first members of this team were Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Phyla-Vell, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, and Adam Warlock. They first showed up in a comic book called Annihilation: Conquest #6 in April 2008. This team is the second group to be called the Guardians of the Galaxy. The first team was created in 1969.

The Guardians of the Galaxy became very famous because of the movies. The first movie came out in 2014. A sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, was released in 2017. The team also appeared in other big movies like Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). They were also in Thor: Love and Thunder and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (both 2022). Their next movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is set for 2023.

The Guardians in Other Media

Television Shows

The Guardians of the Galaxy have appeared in many animated TV shows. They were mentioned in The Super Hero Squad Show. They also showed up in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. In that show, the team included Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Quasar, and Adam Warlock. They teamed up with the Avengers to fight a villain named Korvac.

The team also appeared in Ultimate Spider-Man. Here, the team helped train Nova. They worked with Nova and Spider-Man to fight the Chitauri. The Guardians also showed up in Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H..

In 2015, their own animated series, Guardians of the Galaxy, started. It was based on the movies. They also appeared in Marvel's Spider-Man. In 2022, a special called The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was released on Disney+. In this special, Cosmo the Spacedog joined the team.

Films and Movies

The Guardians of the Galaxy are a big part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their movies are known for being funny and action-packed. The main members are Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot.

In the first movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, the team came together. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, new members like Mantis joined them. They also got help from Yondu Udonta and Nebula.

The team played a big role in Avengers: Infinity War. They met Thor and tried to stop Thanos. Thanos was trying to collect all the Infinity Stones. He wanted to use them to erase half of all life in the universe. Many Guardians, including Star-Lord, Drax, Mantis, and Groot, were affected by Thanos's actions. Only Rocket and Nebula were left.

In Avengers: Endgame, Rocket and Nebula joined the Avengers. They helped bring everyone back who had disappeared. The Guardians then joined a huge battle against Thanos and his army. After the fight, Thor decided to travel with the Guardians for a while. He even joked that they were now the "Asgardians of the Galaxy."

The team also appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder. They helped Thor on some adventures before he went off on his own mission. A third movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is coming out in 2023.

Video Games

The Guardians of the Galaxy have been in many video games. Rocket Raccoon is a playable character in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The whole team appears in the online game Marvel Heroes.

They are also in Lego Marvel Super Heroes. The team includes Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Gamora, and Star-Lord. They also appeared in Marvel: Avengers Alliance. Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot are playable in Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes.

More recently, the Guardians were the main characters in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. They also appeared in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. In 2021, a new single-player game called Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was released.

Toys and Theme Parks

You can find many toys based on the Guardians of the Galaxy. There are action figures from different toy lines like Marvel Universe and Marvel Legends.

The Guardians also have their own attractions at Disney theme parks. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opened at Disney California Adventure Park in 2017. It's a thrilling ride where you help the Guardians escape. Another ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, opened at Disney World's Epcot in 2021. It's a roller coaster that tells a story.

Live Performances

The Guardians of the Galaxy also appear in the Marvel Universe LIVE! stage show. This is a live performance with stunts and special effects.
