Hakeem Tyrone Dawodu (born July 2, 1991) is a Canadian MMA fighter. He used to compete in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Before joining the UFC, he also fought in the World Series of Fighting.

About Hakeem Dawodu
Hakeem Dawodu was born in Calgary, Canada. His mother is from Nigeria and his father is from Jamaica. When Hakeem was six, his mother raised him on her own. As a teenager, he faced some challenges. When he was 16, a counselor suggested he try Muay Thai training. This helped him learn to control his energy and focus.
Hakeem's Fighting Style
Hakeem's main fighting style is Muay Thai, which is a type of martial art from Thailand. It uses punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes. He also has a strong background in Kickboxing. As an amateur in Muay Thai, he had a great record of 42 wins and only 5 losses. As a professional, he won 9 fights and had no losses in kickboxing.
Hakeem's Professional MMA Journey
Hakeem Dawodu started his professional mixed martial arts career in 2014. He quickly became known for his powerful strikes and exciting fights.
Fighting in World Series of Fighting
Hakeem's first professional fight was on February 21, 2014. He won by knockout in the first round. He continued to win his fights in the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). Many of his early wins were by knockout or technical knockout. This means he won by hitting his opponent until they couldn't continue.
In December 2015, one of his fights ended in a draw. This means neither fighter won. However, in a rematch in July 2016, Hakeem won that fight. His last fight in WSOF was in March 2017, which he won by decision. This was his first win that went to the judges' scorecards.
Joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
In November 2017, Hakeem Dawodu signed a contract to fight in the UFC. This is one of the biggest mixed martial arts organizations in the world.

His first UFC fight was in March 2018, which he lost. But he quickly bounced back! In July 2018, he won his next fight by a unanimous decision. This means all the judges agreed he won. He continued his winning streak in December 2018, winning another fight by split decision.

On July 27, 2019, Hakeem won a fight by knockout in the third round. This impressive win earned him the Performance of the Night award. This award is given to fighters who have an outstanding performance.
He kept winning in 2019 and 2020, often by split decision. In September 2020, his opponent missed weight for their fight. Hakeem still won the fight by split decision.
Recent UFC Matches
In June 2021, Hakeem lost a fight by unanimous decision. He then won his next fight in February 2022 by unanimous decision.
In September 2022, Hakeem had a fight where he weighed in a bit too heavy. He was fined some of his earnings, which went to his opponent. He lost that fight by unanimous decision.
His last fight in the UFC was in August 2023, which he lost by unanimous decision. It was reported on June 6, 2025, that Hakeem Dawodu was no longer fighting for the UFC.
