Herbetswil is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Thal district. It's part of the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. It's a quiet place with a mix of farms and forests.

History of Herbetswil

Herbetswil was first mentioned in official records way back in the year 1400. Back then, its name was written as Hebrechtzwilre.

Herbetswil covers an area of about 16.31 square kilometers (about 6.3 square miles). A big part of this area, almost 35%, is used for farming. Even more, about 62%, is covered by forests.

The town itself, with its buildings and roads, takes up about 3.4% of the land. There are also small rivers and lakes, making up a tiny part of the area.

Herbetswil is located in the Thal district, right in the valley of the Dünnern river. The main part of Herbetswil is a haufendorf village. This means it's an old-fashioned village that grew without a clear plan, so its buildings are often close together around a central area. There are also two smaller areas nearby called Vorder Hammer and Hinter Hammer.
